I believe there is a texture pack competition on the main page, with hard drives as prizes and what not.
I'm damn sure one of you polycount folk could whip up something worthy of victory. http://www.webhallen.com/minecraft/
Get on it.
:O
I better win, those fuckers have like 4 years worth of salaries from me in stuff I've bought there.
How come the PC server map hasn't been reset for the new Boimes? I know a lot of people have created BIG stuff on it. Myself included. But I'd like to start a fresh with the Biomes and new block types. Plus having looked at the new maps in SP I find the maps are a lot more Epic in a way. Loads of strange land structures. Maybe that is down to Biomes.
Yeah. Once you've created something the fun sort of goes away since you've done your aim. Starting fresh would be fun. Also having a tidy spawn would be nice XD
Hell perhaps with a fresh start everyone could put their efforts into one big project. Like a recreation of Helms Deep (cliche) etc etc.
Whomever resets the server, please install some of the helpful commands, like /playerlist, /sethome, etc. I don't know the name of the add-on, but it's uber-helpful!

Really hate the water sometimes. Constantly trying to battle it to make the water ride more well stable but my dam ended up lowering the water level and now it won't go back to the way it was >_>

It might not be much, but there is a little trick that does seem to work most of the time that a few friends and I used on our smp server a while back. Make a ditch 3 blocks long and put two bucketfulls of water on the ends. Then pull water from the center with the bucket. We had also found it useful to alter the terrain below the waterway to be only one block below where we wanted it. That seemed to keep things flowing smoothly most of the time after we removed the fill block we used to keep the water level.
I modded my textures to have all coal, iron, gold, iron, and diamond blocks as Mario's 8-bit "?" blocks. They all look the same, so it's a mystery what resource falls out of the block when I break it.
Only one minor crit Eld with the tex pack was telling the bedrock from normal rock, maybe some radically different colour or texture would help, as I was trying to mine it for a while before I realised what it was.

New blocks are shaping up nicely.
Yep, that's something I've been working on, it'll look different from the other stuff now.
I wish you could 'harvest' glass after it's been placed... just saw an awesome piece of art at Art Center that gave me a great idea for Floating Castle 2.0... but I don't want to have to destroy Floating Castle 1.0... If a new server had a warmer climate around the spawn with a space I could claim, I'd be in favor of a server reset.
TNT works in mp, but in the last rev when I used a redstone fuse I didn't get the bang, just instant big holes. Without redstone though I got all the bells and whistles!
That's a lovely combination of bricks and regular stone, I never found bricks to be nice anywhere, but in this picture it really works, it's nicely framed.
as far as resetting the server I'd wait until minecarts, portals and monsters work. It would be cool to have people collaborate on a few large fortresses connected by rails and portals while preserving the natural surroundings.

i second this motion.
DKK - I added another walled off area and collected some more saplings.

..It's more fun than it sounds, I swear!
BTW, is it bad if both you AND your girlfriend are dreaming minecraft dreams.
as long as you're mining the depths of your love :poly124: !
Cheers
and pumpkins
Failed to connect to the server
Connection refused: connect
Personally i just dug a big hole, and made a load of stairs
Doesn't sound like an achievement, but hey
How do you check it? There's so many programs to choose from

so much iron/diamond/natural obsidian, and the cave is huge, it goes to the bed rock without and extra mining, and there's so many branches.
BTW how does multiplayer work? You make a mine, but what happens when you leave?
Someone sets up a server which runs the world, people connect and it plays pretty much like the singleplayer version (with some features missing atm)
No one touch my gold, ok?
Good
Someone offered me diamond if i came back to spawn, but i was too scared of loosing my hole again.
Hopefully this is easily visible on the next render.
yes
eld, can't wait for you to release the updated version! ever since the halloween patch i've been using the default one which is... default.
I got bricks
Too bad the building is ugly from the outside.
