It's kinda cool that he now is getting a devoted artist on board.
On that note, I decided to reskin the Ghast so it no longer looked like a retarded boo.
It's just a quick mock up of the Ghast in max, but it looks pretty much the same in game.It was too hard to get a good screen capture of them without dying...
Speaking of which, a friend of mine who doesn't mind plumbing the filthiest of filthy depths in search of information fished these two images out of the 4Chan cesspit.
Origin unknown. I'm assuming they're just levels that have been dumped into Maya and rendered out with fancy pants settings, but they do give some indication of where the art could go with these purported graphical updates, albeit probably not quite that level of pre-rendered prettiness.

Didn't someone put a static minecraft like environment into crysis?, this could possibly be more of that.
Ok, I'm sold. 150000 thread posts later, and more blog mentions than any other game in history and I think it's finally time I jumped on this Minecraft bandwagon. I've been meaning to get into it for sooo long, but for whatever reason I shamefully haven't checked it out yet.
Could someone explain briefly what it is exactly that you do in it? I know people seem to be horribly addicted to it and usually those are the sort of games I love, but I'm struggling to see what you spend all the time doing? Maybe I'm just naive, or stupid, but the wiki descriptions and the label of 'Sandbox', just don't really make me any the wiser.
Hah that's awesome. In one of the latest pics of the PC server you can see the mass yellow and red near my castle. Worked better than I thought. Too bad PC broke or I'd have filled the area by now.

there's a really nice SSAO mod for minecraft, I've been using it and it looks fantastic ingame
hah, I can't remember I ever updated my tileset to the new version..
Yeah. Just went through your v2 pack and pasted the new parts into them.
I want to make my own set too. Going for 16x16 (a- it'll take less time to make, b- don't care for patching and other nonsense to get stuff working)

Is the Polycount server working? I remember trying a few days ago after the update and I couldn't get on because it said it was out of date. Wasn't sure if it meant the server or I was out of date.
Carts don't work in multiplayer. At least they didn't before Halloween. Maybe they do now.
Nope, they still bug out like crazy. Notch said that he plans on getting SMP fixed up and working nicely before the end of this year, which is also when he plans on going beta.

Don't know whose house this is, I fell through a hole in the bridge, and upon climbing back up again, thought I'd plug it, as it turns out all I had was wood, so I plugged the gap, and as reminder, made it into a torch, thinking it was safe as it was several bricks away from the trees.
I started walking around inside the house when everything became extremely laggy and unresponsive, I turned around to see every tree along the entire walkway engulfed in flames.
30 minutes of hacking trees for saplings and putting out flames, I've replaced most of what was there.
I put all the harvested wood and spare torches in a trunk on the bottom floor.
If you have installed a texturepack, you should know where the files are. Either way, they are in c:\users\....\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin and just delete the file minecraft.jar .
Checked out the server just now, although it was in the middle of the night so i couldnt really see anything, anyway i took a long walk and ended up building a sort of cave that will hopefully get bigger and bigger (ign is Rullstol)
Ok so I got round to checking it out... and I'm fully addicted.
Noob question:
Anyone know what this is? I'm using the RPG texture pack and it dropped out of a kinda muddy/gravelly block, although seemingly not at a 100% drop rate. I assumed it was coal but after seeing it in my bag next to coal, realised it wasn't.
I believe there is a texture pack competition on the main page, with hard drives as prizes and what not.
I'm damn sure one of you polycount folk could whip up something worthy of victory. http://www.webhallen.com/minecraft/
Get on it.

Y'all are welcome to it, if you want.
Does anyone know if or when its going to switch to survival mode?

That SSAO looks pretty cool, but I'd rather have something that helped me see better at night.

grass and leaves are sadly monochrome tinted now with the recent patch though.

Mine stuff, then craft stuff.

You guys built some pretty crazy stuff btw

I searched all over the Wiki looking for it... evidently not looking in the right places!
Cheers!
