Working on a set of weapons hewn from wood and stone, based (very loosely) on ancient Irish tools and weapons.
WIP of the sword design, need to add some believable "lashings" to make it hold together without going down the "duct tape sword" route. Any suggestions? Looking forward to moving into an high poly sculpt.
Blown by the stuff around here I decided to give it a shot. Working on a Tank Design! For now just some line sketches - will post more as the design process flows to more refined pieces.
And I love these bombastic Orcs!! great style and colors!!
recently finished this character for a class with Kurt Papstein, design based off original concept by Kurt.
Super cool! I love the detail and subtle colors. I'd recommend scaling the head down though, right now its about a 6 - head tall bobble head. I did a quick paintover with a standard 7.5 -head tall proportions, and I think it looks about a billion times better.
Still WIP, some details needed on stock and receivers, barrel and trigger are still missing.
Also need to soften a bit edges on receivers and a lot on M203.
Grip is a placeholder at the moment, I'll make completely new
Thinking about creating my own thread now, since there's a lot to show now
I love this! great work. Definitely start a thread
I tried too make it simple but still looks as best as it could be. However, It wasnt turned out as I expected. I spent too much time on the details and over all not as good as I wanted. I may have to make some adjustment to make it better in the future
Your character's face has a LOT of mush going on. Soft features everywhere (especially the nose). Define some harder edges, see real faces from Asian people and see where their features come to harder edges than others.
Since you seem consigned to keep this super smooth and not game ready, polycount can be whatever.
Apologies for the ridiculously late post. Been meaning to go through all these awesome posts and comment, but time has flown by and now there is too much amaze balls to talk about! I hope these messages get to the folks to whom they are intended for. also heres some art to catch those folks' eye hopefully and then some. This is an old wip shot of what i have been working on. going to do some quick wip shots tomorrow night. It has come a long way since this.
seth- thanks dude! i really like what you are doin texture wise on that leather vest. holy crap such a real looking surface.
spug- thank you good sir. lovin the torch light feel of that book piece ya did mang. and the new one is lookin even better.
AimBiz- LOVE that character! sitll think some pin lights would have really made it pop but overal looks super dope. also you need to bleed your edges a bit more so that it doesnt mip on the seams
Haz- dat Es. super cute mang
Fightpunch- those wispy black ghosty guys. HNG. damn you and your photo bashing wizardry
El Scorcho- loke that game res character!
Jamesy- those houses are great! i personally think they feet the theme fine. submit em!
JGcount- I CANNOT wait to see more
Ferg- your fightpunch is delicious
Palm- i want to live inside of these screenshots. please adopt me

Empty-... over the weekend! ffs! so damn boss mode
Have been working on a head sculpt for my next character that Im doing for the Moviefest competition, have been having trouble with getting the likeness correct, any ideas of who it is?
Hazardous - Dude, you're just unstoppable. Love those curves and curls. Alismuffin - Looking good! Really looking forward the the full scene lol. JustinK - lol, that just made my day. Well, it's actually night now. But still awesome! beezul - Sweet sculpt! Man, it always amazes me whenever people can bust out awesome Zbrush stuff and I'm still struggling with just painting in photoshop. somnovus - Looks cool man. Nice details on the heroine's armour! zZAGOR - Cool dude. I really like how you did the muscles. One thing that I kinda noticed though, is the area behind his chain neck shield thing could use some darker shadows maybe. MichalKus - Woah, awesome man. Really digging those tanks. Really nice and tight linework! Hope I can achieve that someday. Andyjonescreative - Oh God, the details. Cool design! Skyerzz - Haha, oh man that's just... too awesome. You really nailed those concepts lol.
Man you guys are so good it's ridiculous.
Empty: Those Techis are off the chain, such awesome character
Prolow: that rounding script looks great, man
Ferg: you're a madman, that Fightpunch sculpt is sick
Hazardous: Bliss looks awesome all posed up, it's really awesome seeing it progress on your twitch stream
It's impossible to name everyone else who's rocking it so hard, you make me feel like a poopsack. especially for letting contract work kick my ass.
I was trying to remember what it's like to do personal work like you guys so I did this Ice Cream girl since it's been so hot lately. Hope you dig it, I did a timelapse too if you're bored for like 3 minutes haha
Funky Bunnies, I want to know more about how you sculpt eyes, and about curvetubes. Would you be willing to go a little more in depth on those?
I don't think I have any special techniques or anything for eyes, but I'm starting to like to do eyes where you cut in a recess for the upper lid with claybuildup, then do the same with the lower lid, then smooth it out and refine with a sharp brush and more claybuildup as you solidify the roundness of the eyeball.
I made a gif in case that doesn't make sense:
I'm all ears if anybody has a better method!
as for curvetubes with hair, the curvetubes brush lets you draw a curve on your mesh and it'll create a cylinder that stretches along that curve. You can get really dynamic stuff this way, but the original curve usually ends up flat along your canvas axis, so it takes some finessing to get it to have a really nice flow and it's only really useful imo when you're dynameshing to clean up any nastiness that's occurring.
