Personal preference I guess. Max has its problems and they've always slowed me down. Apart from a handful of tools and methods, I personally feel Blender beats Max hand down, for the kind of work that I do anyways.
Plus I like rollin' legit, especially if I'm to work freelance, and I can't afford software licences. This guy is being done on a 2013 trial.
This month I'm focusing on high poly modeling in Modo as part of my skill level up plan. This ... personal massager(?) ... is me playing around and trying to figure out how to make shapes happen with minimal geometry.
I also spent a bunch of time setting up Modo AS I worked on this so I could get the stuff I actually need on hot keys and installed a few scripts to boot (mostly Seneca stuff).
I'll never model without edge weights again! So much faster than laying in all those extra loops and edges...
Man, I love WAYWO. The way WAYWO works and looks on Polycount was one big reason for me to register here. Sooo many great different styles, so many awesome artists, beginners, pros and everything in between; just the right amount of feedback, short crits and now spam- it´s just a wonderful and keeps me refreshing the page so often ^^
I've been doing some fun sculpts during the Christmas break, trying to break away from heavier projects and just do some fun stuff. I spent maybe 1.5-2 hours on each of these, no textures, all of these were done in DynaMesh, from a sphere.
Woo happy new year all, may the polygons be in your favour.
So this is my take on the arena net art test, done for fun/practice. For more renders and break downs, visit my portfolio.
Hey all, happy new year polycount cant wait to see what amazing stuff everyone produces in 2013 already some cracking stuff to open up with
something that has been in the works for a while, i am currently directing visuals (in my spare time) for an hour long live 90 piece orchestral/rock/electronic concert to be played along with the music. lots of cool stuff in the works and would highly appreciate any support, check us out, like/share etc... some great music, and some cool visuals with regular updates! this is a london based event that will take place in the summer
like i mentioned, some really really cool music being produced check us out we would love to get some input and feedback

I've always wanted to try Modo but never had the time. The addition of Pixar's OpenSubDiv is definitely enticing. How is it by the way? Is it easy to use?
Current Project: I didn't setup all of his high-poly objects for this shot cause I'm lazy >.>;;
BUT HOWEVER. Here we go: CEC Engineering Suit and Rig:
Edit: Just to clarify, the suit was built on top of NickZ body from zBrush (so things like the hands are pulled from the model and extrapolated from.) Just wanted to clarify that is why he has the same posture/same proportions.
Wow great work already this as per usual @ysalex fantastic work and what a years progress you've done thats great! Hopefully pick up some tips this year from all you guys!
Here's something i just finished over the Christmas hols just a quick one to test some different techniques any crit welcome
Crazy way to start the year with all these awesome posts : )
been working on a tiger hunter character. Typical British hunter guy from the 1850's but I eventually want to make his design a little more heroic fantasy. Maybe? who knows...

Oh, I love Modo. It's the easiest modeling app I've ever used and it feels very streamlined to me. Give it a shot! You can get a 30 day trial at the Luxology web site.
It takes a little bit of a mental shift if you're used to working with the modifier stack in Max but once you get over that hurdle, it's a great modeling app.
I spent a bunch of time setting up hot keys and scripts while I built that rocket piece and now I get things done even faster. As I refine my workflow I think it'll just get better and better...
I fucking love this type of music. Can't wait to hear more.
Any names of similar stuff?
hey there mate really really glad you like! not off the top of my head i cant, again i love this sort of stuff but im sort of new at it however all i can say is keep a look out for updates, obviously because im working close with the 2 talented chaps composing this (Tim Johnson and Konstantine Pope) ive heard the work in progress/not-released stuff and i can safley say.....just.... wow...
for everyone else i forgot to post the link to the music (were holding our cards to release the full video when we feel its impressive enough....)
again im not usually one to panda and ask for this kind of stuff like/share/follow/ all very highly appriciated everyone is working so hard and thanks so much for the feedback and support so far those who have done!

And another W.I.P, can you guess who? :P 3DS Max, but tbh I'm trying to move over to Blender completely so this will be my last Max project.
Is it...a futuristic Henry Hoover?
Why?
:P

Speedpaint of an old dude, for a forum avatar! Probably 40 mins or so of work? Probably won't clean it up since it's such a small final image.
Lost-Artist89: you've piqued my interest in that project you're working on. I'm looking forward to seeing/hearing the finished product.
Hope to have this finished soon.
Finally getting over my sickness, lets rock this year with awesome art!!!
