Hmmm... I personally think it looks too much like it's made of plastic. Also, possible slightly too tall...
Is there anything you could do with the texture to make it look more like fabric?
I know! I tried using the speular map in the normal, but it used the cubemaps so I got something very metallic. no idea if I can make it look more dull, with the rim more glossy somehow. I will give it some more work later.
As I've stated multiple times, the command $normalmapalphaphongmask doesn't exist. Since the command doesn't exist it acts as it isn't there and searches for the phong mask automatically in the normal map's alpha. You can keep it there if you want but it's not doing anything.
Well it keeps ignoring the normal maps alpha mask anyway! no matter if I add or remove the command. I'l try putting the speculars in the diffuse textures and try calling it with basemapalphaphongmask
i'm waiting for the weekends when I can try out to see if I can give the ribbon a bit more umph with a soft cubemap reflection.
After that, its rushing to get the pistol in! I'm going to see if I can borrow some of the metallic shaders the ambassador uses for some of the metal elements.
I want to make it into a C-model and replace the ambassador. but I have no idea on how the animations will work. (wich sparkwire still has to complete)
I could play with a phong exponent mask, to make it more glossy but that would require a new grayscale map, which in my oppinion isnt worth the effort. I think the hat is done now as fat as I can tell. I will submit the fix in an hour or so I will come back with some shots from the red hat ingame, and then I will put some work in the pistol!
hope you guys like it, oh and the hand gets a little distorted at times, don't know why but it is hardly noticable ingame. maybe sparkwire can do something, but that would be such small tweaks, I doubt its worth to invest time in

note: textures and materials aren't final. they need alloooot of tweaking, but it looked better then I expected.
oh, and the pistol still needs animations, spark where are you!
the files sparkwire sent me had some nasty smoothing group errors, it requires me to re-export all the animations.
I haven't yet found the time to do so unfortunately, but once I do I will update this thread with some nice shots and a you-tube clip if it works. I might reexport everything after work, in the time that is left in waiting for the results to show up.

It would probably increase your chances quite a lot.

Yeah well its a bit longer then the ambassador. I can scale it a little but I like how it looks in first person.
Anyway , I obvoiously need to scale it down a little, since I am sure the animations will make clear if this scale will work or not.
