what is the next material to look out for once you have a lot of coal? I've been digging and digging, and during the day exploring etc, but all i find is coal and a little gold which i can't mine yet. and somehow there are very few pigs around, so i've been at 3 hearts for a couple of days now . any help would be nice.
playing single player since the server isn't working for me somehow.
What the hell is going on. I got some update and decided to see how much had changed since I last joined like 2 weeks ago. Enemy NPC's everywhere...100's all in groups. Spawn is destroyed to bits and this damage crap is bullshit, I lost everything as soon as I spawned >_>
lol. heres the scene outside my castle in the mornings. Mobs spawn and then freeze but they dont disappear. There's another bunch of mobs behind me as well. Eventually the game crashes. Notch has fudged it.
Not kidding, just before I left I took one last look at them only this time it was night. To my surprise about 100 spiders leapt out of nowhere and raped the shit out of me. Know why? Not cause there were 100 but they were in turbo mode. Must have moved about 3x as fast as normal. I had no chance.
I think I was able to quit just before they killed me. XD
I managed to connect for the first time last night, I died on entering the world and lost all my stuff, then discovered even in 'peaceful' mode you can die.
I found a ton of creepers and zombies milling around my castle, and they could harm me but I couldn't kill them (I attacked one with a sword and it spawned some feathers, but stayed rooted to the spot) I then got attacked by a ton of spiders that were half-embedded in the ground. :P
I'm ditching the PC server for now. I'm playing on another server that works great. No lag issues, and there are about 16 guys on there with no slowdown or oddness.

Oh...so maybe the PC server needs updating. And can we please for the love of god have a reset. The map is screwed.
Great texture pack, I thought I'd never switch from Doku's, but this for me takes the stakes
Notch needs to implement some sort of mip-mapping, so the textures in the distance will be more blurry, it somehow will optimize better and make the textures look less noisy.

Shame though that doku don't have time to work on his any more as it is now. I can see how it can be discouraging to have quite a famous and also high-quality pack going and then see mojang hold a 16x16 competition and not choosing to officially support anything higher.
i played the game and it seems fkn awesome (trail) but when you buy it, what mode would you play to get all the sweet items? and if you die, you lose them?

There's only one mode in the current bought version, which can be played in singleplayer and multiplayer, where you build and craft stuff in an infinite environment.
Many sweet items to be had, and if you die you drop all your items, but you respawn at spawnpoint and can go and pick them up, or store them in a chest in your built home.
Which is the better way to paint textures for 32x32?
Make a new file with size 128x128, paint all the details and shapes directly, the detail will be lost when lowering resolution down, make adjustments, add back lost detail or just start with a 32x32 file with zoom in 1000% then make a new twin of the window at the zoom of 100% and paint in the first window?
eld - if you can share the technique or any tips for that, that would be helpful.
Although I know your textures are 16x16 but that's almost the same.
Haha, simple straight answer, "use a 1px pencil brush" I should have known that
I really like the GUI's you did, they fit perfectly.
I'm this kind of minecraft person who likes to build houses out of wood in snow biomes with fireplaces, it makes me feel nice and cozy when playing in the middle of night when tired and while drinking warm tea, it's creepy to hear nasties walking around in the middle of the night, once the creeper blew my doors.

Thanks!, the thing is with the 1px pencil brush is that due to the low resolution of those tiles you really cannot afford to do anything but make use of every pixel.
You really have to think like a pixelartist when it comes to minecraft stuff :P
I've done two textures so far, I'm using DOKU'S colour scheme because I think it will fit perfectly and later on I can just tweak it, I keep the files in PSD so I can continue at any time. I'll fix tiling later on.
Really small but it can be zoomed in I guess.
I'll keep working.
Edit:
Putting in-game screen, I think it looks nice, I never used to make pixel stuff before, well nice but I can't say I'm happy with the result, I want to put more detail into them and make some better contrast, the grass needs to be redone, and also the borders around the textures, keep them or not?
Depending on when you bought it:
-Free updates for life if you bought it in Alpha
-Free updates til end of Beta if bought during Beta
-Bought after beta? tough luck - it's pretty much paid DLC
EDIT: Sorry, I misunderstood - you still get free updates, just not all versions, e.g. new gamemodes

Get it as usual at:

I'm definitely going to do something about that dirt soon enough now that I've balanced out some of the other stuff in the terrain.
And only two weeks left for the compo :x
edit:
the main noticeable changes I made to terrain from last version.

Don't mind the title, it's supposed to be that ironic.
Someone even made a sweet addition on top, just what the trees i planted were supposed to be for

You should probably work a bit at bringing the shapes out more so you don't risk it looking like flat shapes with blacker lines on it.
anyway, tried out the AO mod today:
