vOlog-hai are not mentioned by name in The Lord of the Rings; the term appears only in the appendices. They were created by Sauron at the end of the Third Age, possibly for the same reason that Saruman created the Uruk-hai, for improvement and less vulnerability to sunlight.

This is a diorama inspired by one Egor Belavksy's concept pieces. I recently finished it and I'm really pleased with how it turned out, I hope I did it justice since the concept is amazing! Got around to making a quick how i did my gems, all credit to the marmo video linked. ^Non facets , then a KA Facets example version at the end, watch both, 1st has music. (did it to learn gems, facets you probably don't need 2nd reflections so you can do the viewer with it.)
