This is great. I think you quite nailed it. Do you have a thread for this?
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
I do not have a thread, but I will definitely make one for my next piece as I intend to use the exact same pipeline. I'm also acting as "art-lead" on the project which this piece is involved with, so I'm hoping to record a good bit of my process to help my fellow artists as well.
The low poly was done in maya, then the high poly was taken and rendered out completely using NDO2. I used DDO to get the base of the diffuse, then made some tweaks accordingly.
Combat Knife at 1748 triangles.
Modelled and baked in 3ds Max, then Normal detailed in nDo2,
I'm new to modelling for games, would love some feedback
Thanks
@Zonder - looks great. Awesome material indication. as far as modelling for games it's probably a little high poly for it's relative size, but less so if it's geared toward a FPS perspective. Maybe a little more indication of use in the texture of the handle?
Everybody is posting some really cool and inspiring stuff. I'm modelling my car, and here are some progress shots of it. Check it out in my sketchbook.
Alright...after a lot of tweaking again and altogether about 10 weeks of work , I finally call this one done.
Sure...there are a lot of things which could be improved and done way better but I think at anytime I should move on and start something new where I can apply all the knowledge I've gained while working on this.
I started this based on a concept found on cghub (I don't have the artist name for this one sorry :x)
Very nice model ! Nice shapes, the face is especially really great.
But her arms are a bit short... If you rotate them, the fingerline falls just below the crotch, actually the fingerline should fall at the middle of the thigh length, and the wrist should be about the same height as the crotch.
Keep going man, this is great stuff !
And I don't post here often, but awesome work everyone !
I invented a creature. A Dragon-Pelican hybrid that I call "Draligan."
Killer idea and sculpt mate Reminds me the approach I had on old Dominance War IV, I had 3 demonic birds head, but they was far from being that cool. Your works makes me want to re-explore this idea.
Tnx man, it's an honor coming from you
No I don't have a folio nor blog sorry.
@Abrvpt
Thanks for those tips, the fingers are actualy at one third of the thighs length (the angle is misleading) I elongated a bit the forearm since it was indeed too short anyway.
I suck at anatomy, especialy proportions (all I do is gather TONS of refs and observe, I never properly learned the theory and it shows), I may open a thread for this one at some point to avoid pitfall like that.
Trying out some stylized/realistic render on my sculpt. Some details are lost so im trying to figure out what part of the displacement settings in zbrush and max that needs to be adjusted.
really cool scudz, tho i think that the cloth could be a bit more organic/believable before you introduce the hard edges, right now it doesn't quite feel like stylized cloth

Need to work on it a little bit more.

I really like your style. I knew this was yours just by the images.
Awesome! make a thread if you plan to continue the environment piece, just put a quick piece of land on the floor to reflect the size of the building.
Looking forward to more!
