@jackalope Thanks man! Sure, she is about 8cm tall and cost me roughly 30usd to print including tax and shipping and all that. You can check it out on the actual product page on shapeways... not sure if I can link to it here cause I put the model up for sale.
Busy finishing off a sculpt I did as part of Scott Eaton's course. Still got some work to do, but I decided to take a break and play with lighting an' stuff.
Hello there good work around here, working to develop my skills at the level this thread deserves .
My First post of the year and my first post here... I wanted to play with an animation that included my favorite colours, my passion for videogames and with some weird geometries. This is what i got:
Decided to go a bit further than just a sculpt this time. There are a few areas I am not 100% happy with but meh.... I am sick of looking at his regular face.
here is a "QUICK" Costume change WIP....... I have been reading "World War Z"
Here's another piece I made a little while ago. It's of an urn from the Palace of Versailles. The high is on the left, rendered in Modo, and the low is on the right in UDK. I wish I knew some shading tricks to make it look a bit more like marble.
dtschultz: great detail work!
i'd say if you want to push the marble more, look at the physical properties of the stone a bit.
- lots of little sparkly bits (could be all over or just in the veins) even on an unpolished stone
-play a bit with the specular, you'l need a bit more shine since its looking a bit more like plaster rite now. But keep it muted so a fairly soft gloss map would help out (if your shader supports it)
looked at all the great polycount submissions for Dota2. that dragged me onto the forums here. New years rolls around, decide i'll learn zbrush in the interest of making dota2 items / shit's and giggles.
had a free day today. (been studying videos and forum posts since last week)
sat down and did this...
so ya this is what i'm working on in 2013 today. got a long way to go... but my hand really hurts... gotta learn to loosen up.
Here's a couple of things I've worked on today. One's a concept inspired by Aribeth from NWN, the other's a short value study. Trying to get some studies done each day to improve my drawing and anatomy:
nice work! aajohnny : I like how your textures read well from so far away, my eyes want to see some trim on the tops of the buildings ZombieWells : that golden bronze-y look in the rocks is very nice, dem some sweet rocks!
Crosspost from my WIP thread. Got around to finishing this guy over Christmas. Loads learned, Loads i'd love to change/do differently, but on to the next one!
High Poly of a sci fi tool I am working on. Somewhat based on the recent 3d motive tutorial. Still small details I need to add but I am leaving them for Ndo2.
Wow! I saw that Walter White over on ZB Central. That's so amazing.
I redid the material in UDk and played around with my spec (and I added in a gloss map of sorts - thanks for the idea). I think it looks a bit more like marble at this point.
Rikk - Damn it man. Gets better every time i see it.
mccartm6 - Love the top half of the design man but those leg let the design down. Maybe some fur or scaly pattern, may bring some life to that area.
1. Mask out the area where you want the shirt to be and then extract the selection with some thickness
2. Use Zsphere retopology to create a mesh directly in zbrush and then add thickness to the adaptive skin.
Option 1 would be the quickest, though I think option 2 might give cleaner results (depending on the resulting topology, of course).

I've been working on Korben, a character from my favourite movie - The Fifth Element.
@ Duncan - Really digging the texture on those eyes, I'd be interested to know if you used a parallax map at all.
Duncan: maybe there's a little camera distortion going on but your render looks a bit wide compared to the ref.
between work and my Superman model I did a quick polypaint on this guy:
Edit: put up some turnarounds on my blog and CGhub
@ Haiasi so Awesome and interesting to look at.
From my thread. Practising low poly and some diffuse only hand painted texturing.
don't go full retard!
My first time here, will be a low poly for UDK, I hope you like!
Tkx!

and here is my latest image of it rendered in realtime.
Still loads to do and things to fix including the creation of a diorama for it to be posed on.
Despite limited time, any help/feedback or suggestions is most welcome
Thanks for viewing
...unbelievable rikk - do you have a website or more work anywhere? ...would like to see more from you
Need to get on that spec and make it better!
and a happy new year!
