The tax would actually be around 70% in his situation. It is really sickening. Once you get success in whatever you do the state just rips you of whatever you accomplished.
It is that high. I have a company myself in Sweden. You have 30% social costs to pay on top of regular income tax that you do not pay yourself when you are an employee, and if you earn too much in a single year, like he has, income taxes will jump up to 50 to 60% of what you earned. So that + 30% social costs = sick.
I just bought this. And I have to say I'm completely addicted...Which I find quite bizarre tbh.
The guy doing the Mined the gap review things at RPS talks about why he loves the game because you get lost in it. Like, literally lost and not knowing where to go. Even with a compass. Which I totally get.
I started playing about a week ago and what I find strange is that the game requires me to do nothing. There's no quest, objectives or missions. I've made a HUGE castle for absolutely no reason. Its even in the single player game so I can't even show it off. I can only build a few things to put in it so its 99% empty. I might as well have a 4x4 hole in the ground really. I think i've encountered every creature type and I know how to deal with them. As yet I've still to find diamonds etc. But I havent properely started mining yet.
Its a strangely compelling game. Just makes me want to explore. I love the epic caverns that I stumble across. And I still shat myself everytime I hear an arrow whizzing toward me.
Anyway. If you havent played it yet. Give it a go. But beware. Say goodbye to spare time.
Yeah, I fell into the trap as well, after I played it in the browser for free a couple of days, and I got hooked! So ended up cashing out and get it before the prices goes up after alpha (or beta). And yes, its stupid, I'm building up my places, trying to make it look nice and there is no one there to see it :P
Can't wait for multiplay Survivor, gonna be great I think. I have been exploring caves around my base, not knowing that a HUGE cave system was just below, found it by accident when I was mining a bit, waiting for the night to pass and undeads to burn, and I heard water and starter digging for it. Its huuge, I love it, even found my first spawner.

Install it by opening up the minecraft.jar file with something like winrar and browse to the gui folder, where you'll overwrite the older items.png with this one.
The minecraft.jar should be located in Appdata\Roaming\.minecraft\
God damn. I just went on the polycount server for a look about. Went down the long ladder in the castle. Fell through the bottom of the world..........And because its sandbox I cant die and I dont know how to fly back up or respawn at spawn. And it saves my position everytime i enter the server. Any ideas?

i bought the game today and ive been playing nonstop. i found this super deep cavern system, probably a mile down. i found a buttload of iron ore, gold ore, diamonds, and that red stuff. i was so relieved when i found my way back to the surface and back to my log cabin. now i need to make a much stronger fortification so that i dont lose everything when those damn creepers blow up my house.
TLDR Ive been straight mining for 6 hours straight
I bought it before the weekend... Then I spent all of my time on the weekend playing it. Oh man, I am so into it. Playing at work during my breaks too... :poly142:
It's exciting because the game is getting constant updates, making it better.
I tried setting up a server last night but connecting from here at work is giving me troubles, though I can connect locally. Will have to figure it out, because I really like the snow map it created.
I have a hard time playing the game for too long in one sitting, but I know that at one point I could sit for hours and just dig, building my fortress.
evilblah: Not a very great one but it's what got me hooked. I set out to make a mountainhall as my base. As I did the digging I hit a natural cave. Since I was a noob I got a bit upset and felt that my pretty hall had been ruined.
Then I started exploring this cave with minimal digging and mining. Three real-life days(3-4hours each day) passed as I delved deeper and deeper into this natural cave. There didn't seem to be an end to it and I got lost several times. Eventually I dug too deep and stumbled upon a monster-spawn. Didn't take long before I was on the floor together with all my findings and belongings.
No problem I thought. I'll just go down and get them! As I went further and further down I started to doubt I was on the right track. Ofcourse I got lost and ran in circles. Eventually I found my way back but all my items had despawned.
I occasionally still get lost. Gotta find a way to somehow mark out the way back to the surface... torches was a good idea initially. Not anymore.
nrek: it's generated through a mod with vector-planes etc.
yeah. That story has happened to me about 10 times now.
As for marking paths. I've started making signposts, which has come in very handy. Write things like. "The way out >>>", "Out = Up and left", etc. I also mark places of interest with torches on the floor rather than on walls.
I'll share a cool trick I've learned when I find a spawner. Infinite feather, arrows, etc. When I get back home and do some screengrabs.
In complex cave systems, I tend to wall off areas I've fully explored, to make sure I don't randomly wander around in them again looking for new paths, that tends to help.
I wish there was an enemy that extinguished torches, that would be fun.
Hey, I'm making the castle on the ice a community fort so anyone can feel free to expand/improve on it, I couldn't have made it without Flaagan tirelessly operating the forges producing all the smooth stone and glass.
eld > Those icons are brilliant! Have you contacted the MC dev team about maybe buying them off you and using them. They're too good to not be in the official build.
I've been playing like a fiend for two days now, it's dangerously addictive.
My avatar; pieces hacked from the default skin and the 'dj skully' skin. I'll paint him up propper as soon as I can pull my head out of the game itself.
eld > Those icons are brilliant! Have you contacted the MC dev team about maybe buying them off you and using them. They're too good to not be in the official build.
Problem is, the game is always constantly updated, which means there has to be new icons every time something new is added, and I'd probably just make this icon-set up to this point, depending on the interest, but might not be in the future.
Can someone PM me about how to add your own custom skin, custom icon set, and custom world set? Or maybe point me in the right direction for a website?
When I first started playing, I built a little hut into the side of a mountain for shelter and the next day went out exploring. The night started coming and I thought I should get home but then I realized that I was lost. I started getting nervous and was running all over the place. In the end, a spider and a creeper saw to my destruction. Pretty epic failure but man, I was hooked since then. Oh, and now I build massive spires with torches on the top to guide me to my place.
I love finding spawners they are such a cool puzzle element in the game. Heres what I do.
Heres my deathtrap set up. Pretty simple really.
1. Find spawner
2. dig all the earth surrounding the cobbles and moss cobbles below. DO NOT dig cobbles.
3. surround the top of the open spawner pit with torches.
4. Kill bad guys
5. Make sure no new bad guys spawn by adding torches inside the pit. Place these in the centre of the 4 walls. so when you add water they get extinguished.
6. Also place lots of torches in the space below the spawn pit.
7. Grab stuff from chests. destroy chests and place else where.
8. Grab Mossy cobbles and replace with normal cobbles.
9. Create a death pit below the spawner. And create collection pits for the water to flow into.
10. Place water at the top of each wall. Make sure to create a small wall surrounding the water block. This is just precaution as Bad dudes can climb up thru water like you can.
11. remove all torches that are around the pit so bad dudes can spawn again.
12. Go to lower chamber an laugh manically as the bad guys drown. MWAHAHAHA!
13. Collect goodies as they flow out into the collection pits.
Diagram:
Above view. Note where I place the torches inside the pit.
Lower chamber.
This is the first deathtrap i've made so the design could probably be tweaked. Sometimes the goodies get stuck inside the death trap. To get them out create a block so they get pushed into flowing water.
I havent found a skelton spawner yet. But when I do I will be creating some glass block to make the deathtrap work better.
Also. When you find a spawner pit. Create a chest near by and dump all stuff you dont want to loose into it. Death happens quite a bit unless you take care.
Anyway. Enjoy
Please share any other neat trick you come up with.

Interestingly enough, a triple-A game at 60e would be deemed a failiure at a 100k sales, while this 10e game at 100k is a super success.
Still, well earned I say.

Nice.......
Okay, thats just freaking awesome. I'm guessing that it's made in creative mode and not survival mode
Do you guys play in survival mode or just create mode?
