Got all the spaceship parts last night. The car you get for it sucks. lol. kinda neat that its low gravity, but i was hoping it would hover. it lets you go up really steep hills though, and i had a hard time damaaging it, until i drove it into a lake.... I hope my autosave still has it, cause apparently it just disappears forever once you blow it up.
I think the 'other way' he's curious about is to buy a multiplayer only version of the game. Which would mean no, there's isn't some other way to get online.
Perna, you're acting as if it's a dumb question, but it's really not. Rockstar has already said they are open to the idea of GTA Online being its own stand alone game, and that its possible you`ll see it in the future. So, currently, no, there is no "other way" of getting it, but it's not completely out of the picture.
A friend gave me GTA V on Saturday, I've been hooked for the past few days. Really fun, it's surpassing my expectations. I forgot how fun it is just to bullshit around in a GTA game.
The cops are a bit annoying, though. The first thing i did was save up and get suppressors for my weapons. Somehow, sniping someone with a silenced weapon while hiding in a bush in stealth mode from a fair distance away still makes the cops chase me. What's the point? Might as well shoot the dude with a rocket launcher and e-mail a picture of my face to the cops.
Also: I don't think Katana is talking about piracy or anything. Just the way that article is worded can be confusing. It says it's free to people who bought GTA V, but that kind of implies there might be some other way to buy it separately. Which there isn't. Just a misunderstanding, doesn't sound like anything nefarious.

I guess that's kind of a tough one. I mean, the other extreme is that you can snipe with impunity which would seem to break the game ...

I can imagine maybe one shot would put them on alert (if there are witnesses to the guy going down) and if you make another shot it could reveal your position. I dunno, something like that. Right now it just seems like they dangle these stealth options in front of you, but they're only practical during certain missions, and otherwise have no impact on gameplay.

That's what I meant. Sorry for the strange wording.
I was confused because the article said that GTA V had no multiplayer support...but I get it now.
Has anyone else spotted Bigfoot? I was hunting this weekend and when turning on the thermal view I saw a man-shaped thing standing there. I turned it off, and was pointed at a tree, but when i turned it back on in the same location the shape was gone... ahhhhhhhh
Man, I got all the spaceship parts, but then I drove the car into a lake, and now I cant get it back. What BS is that? Why would it not be instantly added to your specials list in your garage? I spend hours finding those pieces.
Biggest pet peeve about this game. If you buy a car online, it appears in your garage, but then it disappears once you use it and leave it outside... If you`re going to spend millions of dollars on cars, it should respawn in your garage every time! And no, this isnt the garage bug people have experienced. this is actually by design.

I think that is what insurance is for... or is that only for online?
Can anyone who has played online confirm this? I saw a screenshot that looked like a player made character (online) buying a car from a car dealership. Are you able to buy any car you want somehow within the game? I know about the website but only saw exotic cars in there.
Before people ask why I would want to buy a normal non-exotic car from a car dealership in a game about stealing cars...I have a favorite and can't manage to get one to spawn. In the cases where I did have one I fell victim to the garage bug. Also, I'm pretty sure online is completely seperate from solo.
After starting a character, I kinda felt a little unmotivated to do all the things I wanted to with Franklin, Michael, and Trevor. Was pretty excited to make money and buy all the locations you can, max out everyone's stats... but now I'd rather spend that time on my GTAO dude. Will finally finish the story so I can get sucked into Online
we should really make a collection of peoples gamer tags and shit so people can start getting together in-game.
Agreed! I don't think Crews are specific to platform (could be wrong), but im sure MP itself is. There is a polycount crew that looks old and left to rot? Def. down to play with folks!
i believe that has my PSN name too? you might be able to just add me to your friends there. i dunno! lol.
that said, i got past character creation, got to the first bit with Lemar, and now i keep getting "unable to find a session". looks like no online for me just yet!
there is mine... i added the previous ones posted.
Do we know if both consoles share online? prbly not eh? I tried to play yesterday but it kept booting me off. oh well... i'll play it tomorrow or something.
Happens on every major release, WoW, Guild Wars...ect. You guys know better than I though, that they usually add more servers, do some efficiency programming and smooth things out in a week or so.
Though I hope their plan is to go to the previously mention 32 per server.
Yea... i am not worried, and i did not rage about it. They even sent an email talking about it. All i did was continue playing the main story haha had a lot of fun.
I was going to try online a bit last night, but figured I'd wait til after this weekend probably when things are ironed out. Besides, still have tons of screwing around in the story mode to do!
Rockstar handled this whole thing pretty well, letting people know "hey, we know it won't be perfect right at the start, but we'll be working on it." Hope people are patient.
oh i'm not moaning or anything, sure it's disappointing but whatever, the rest of the game is still fun to play, and Dragons Dogma just went on PSN for PS+ subscribers to get for free, so playing that right now.
GTA:O is likely to be a short term thing for me anyway, we're getting rid of the ps3 once the ps4 arrives.
I've found it works best in the later hours of EST, every time I've tried between 8am and noon EST the servers are down. If i try after 10pm EST, it works. Haven't played much, but did rob a store with someone as part of some entry mission. They didn't kill me after and gave me a lot of money! Excited to do more of this. I love how uneasy I felt doing the store robbery with some random person, thinking "are they going to kill me?" "Will they give me a cut?" "shit what if i fail driving and get us busted or killed?" I generally play GTA as the "honorable thief" by not killing when i don't have to, driving safe, being loyal, etc... and i know others don't - trying to decide how to play Online
Since this update, I've also hard-locked twice. Once while the game went idle, and once while trying to switch to online via the quick character menu. Have also been locked out of switching characters after failing to connect to online. Nothing super frustrating but the crashes are new.
I tried from 10:30pm to 11:30pm and just got stuck on the loading screen for the first race tutorial mission every time. Just turned it off after an hour of wasted time and disappointment.
What set the mood for my sadness was every character you make looks super athletic and fit, even if you say they sit their ass on the couch 8 hours a day and sleep for 12. I wanted a fat character.
The character creation to make your face how you want is also very clunky. It's clever, but clunky. My lady ended up looking more Indian/Chinese than African American.
I guess I was expecting a character creation system that was at least half as good as APB's, especially since R* said they want GTAO to be its own entity, but it is far from it.
Overall I'm disappointed and lost interest after not being able to make a character I wanted and having to fuss for an hour in non-peak hours to stare at broken loading screens.
didn't they delay the online portion so that it could have a smooth launch? (and also work on some features I'm sure)
well that turned out just fine
guess they - as well as any mmorpg-developer ever, underestimated that more than say 2000 people wanted to play their game.
good thing league of legends is online!.........wait, servers down?!
Replies
theres a fair few hand drawn scrawly ones around too
So I'm confused...16 players per server? Do I need to buy GTA5 to get online or is there a separate product?
I see in the article that those who buy GTA5 will be able to play online for free..so is there some other way to get online?

Thank you all.

Because in San Andreas he was an urban myth that i spent many fucking hours looking for lol.

I need a Grotti carbonizzare so sweet...
I was just watching a video on character building. The initial customization is genius.

Come have some fun.
only thing that feels weird to me is free roam now feels like a lobby rather than a true free roam
there is mine... i added the previous ones posted.

I tried for a bit yesterday but it was so patchy I figured I should just wait it out.
