Very nice, but I'd hate to see all that geometry go to waste
Check out this quick paintover for some minor improvements
1: Cut those faces in half and save 4 tris per leaf, 16 tris for the entire model and 96 tris in your scene, that would save enough tris to put an extra fern in there!
2: With the remaining geometry, try to shape it more like how the actual leafs would flow. This would also fix something about the specularity, because right now it looks a little flat.
Especially with relatively simple models like this it's important to get the most out of the tri count/shapes! Good luck
Dado: Thanks alot for the feedback. You know, I haven't really given much thought about the main feel of this character. I guess I'm going towards the more humorous type, but still keeping him badass.
Good point about variety. Will have to try it out with longer legs. Perhaps it will benefit the armor design as well since the pieces will be further away thus making a stronger silhouette.
I wish I could place models like this one in the speed modeling thread, but the fact of the matter is that I've spent quite a long while tweaking - plus, I've got bigger plans than just a head.
EricV: Thx man! me like your comment and your portfolio :]
divi: haha, thx! i've made a tiled texture in zbrush then some post process in photoshop. For a quick test i think it's OK.
I put a bit more on my sketchbook thread...
Today felt like a drawing day... so drawing I did.
This is a fairly quick sketch I did... but the most rendered of the bunch. I made it up as I went along, so don't think too much into some of the design elements... and yes, the persepective on her sword makes it look like its floating. Oops. :P
hey holi thats some really nice cave wall, me likes
just finished this ak mag also...
looks pretty good. I bet you're just tossing them in for scale but remember that the curved sides at the top of a magazine are the feed lips, which the top-most rounds are going to be pressed against before being stripped/chambered. your mags have way too much space between the side of the mag and the rounds, it should look like this:
rounds snug against the feed lips. Again, you probably new this but I wanted just to be sure.
love that knife Frump...seems the link to your homepage is broken...i would like to see more...:)
Haha, yeah. My hosting plan just ended yesterday and I'm changing hosts. I should have everything migrated by later tonight. Glad you like the knife btw.

yeah no you'e right....I had no idea before theyre that snug....almost all my knowledge from guns comes from video games and my own research, Ive never fired a gun let alone hold one so its something I easily missed
Hehe, nice to know. My fear of deadlines pretty innate tho :'P
Almost done with this puppy, but im having trouble deciding. I wanted to add some detail the the end of the bow, possibly break up the silhouette, so I added some rusted steel plating.
Im not sure if its taking too much attention away from the "grip" area tho, or make the design look noisy. Also, I kinda like the organic feel it has without.
I assume the handle where the bow is held is in between the jaws. If that's the fact (and it should be because it's fucking impossible to not hold a bow in the middle when you draw it back) then you could think about adding a place to nock the arrows in. Most people don't balance an arrow on their fingers.
Detail ideas: jewles in the eyes of the skull. a string obviously. decorative beads wrapped around/hanging from it. A gnarly arrow.
Maybe it's just me, the bake looks nice but the fleshy bits lack that certain colour variation / contrast you see in zombieflesh and shrunken heads. It's pretty morbid, but if you look up a photos of shrunken heads you'll find that they are much more colourful, with contrasting wrinkles and almost scabby surfaces.
What I mean is that I'd like to see some mottling in the flesh diffuse using red-browns, maybe some pale green as well. But that is really just my taste and what would make my eyes happy.
Your right, its held in the middle x'P. I get what you're saying about the "arrow holder", I dont think theres too much space between arrow and the characters hand ingame tho (oblivion), but I'll check it out.
Gems and string are comming, wasn't sure about doing details on the leather (wanted a crude build kinda look), but I probably should.
Technically...don't we all come from a box? :poly142:
Looks like a very characteristically strange woman..or a man w/ small boobs. Transgender?
Pixelchoat: Love your rednecks! Photosourced textures ya? I'd say the weakest part of all 3 are the feet/boots. The shoes all look inflated, and the 1 set of feet seem off (the longer 2nd toe, while it happens sometimes in reality, looks funky here). Also the shoulder straps of the overalls, and the suspenders read as pretty flat on both guys who've got em.
Finally got around to doing a piece of concept art for a story I'm working on called Kudeta (Philippine-ized coup d'etat). Still a long way to go, but it's a third world dieselpunk story set in the 80's-90's.
snowfly: that is looking awesome, I'd try making the central character a bit larger and work the other two into a triangle comp, beautiful colours but try and get some contrasting colours on the focal points too because it's all very orange except the lower wall.

The bow took around 7h today (concept+zbModel), is that really slow?
Anyway, heres the two latest weapons.
Sorry for the spam :x
lol oh dear, I know hes a bit a scary but when hes posed and the scenes all laid out it will all make sense and it wont be so scary ........I hope
Loving Mr Incredible 3dlam and great bake woog

Nope, that's a decent speed

drives me insane!
in some places it looks like it tiles, then it doesn't... aargh can't figure out what's going on! looks great though

Excellent job man!
Okay, now you MUST do a variant that's a switchblade COMB.

I love me some submarines! Working on some hand painted textures now.

@Vrav
Hmm maby the texture is misrepresenting. Its not suppose to be a shrunken head, but a skull.

Here's a close-up, because I bothered with the silly fabric details.
Haha, digging the hatter fly-soup. Very funny.
