really dig the color and mood ngs616. i haven't had a crack at more naturalistic environments with UE3/UDK, what do you like and what don't you like about working on this in UE?
@ woogity model look gr8..but green color look bit dull maybe coz of pre-render
@ Fuse Ear look bit small when compare to over head
@ pestibug Nice block out.Wait for more...
Gav: I had a better crit typed out but lost it...
Ears look wonky. Antihelical fold seems to be missing the depression one typically sees. Also the cranium is wicked tall. The scars seem a wee bit dark as well.
lol funkybunnies thats crazy, it would be kinda cool if you made him look barely bigger than a real egg sitting on that floor and added dof but its looking finished as it is anyway ha
Sandro: Thanks very much! the background is kinda just thrown on, but i agree it kinda flattens it out.
ngs616: Thanks for the kind words! maybe ill armor him at some point, but for now it was just a muscle study that i got excited about and painted and now i need to work on render stuff and its at a good point for that. Awesome color scheme!
gaganjain: thanks man! this is my first render using multiple passes from Zbrush. the original color pass was much greener. i took it down to about 37% because it just seemed more natural to me the shade it is, now i cant stop seeing frog skin
FunkyBunnies:!!! thats awesome! love the frills. i agree about the background tho, too naturalistic for the character i think.
Thanks Dado, the deadline's not until Monday at like 11PM, so if you want to point out any little problem areas with the texture feel free. I've been looking for something to do with the rest of the day and I suppose finding a good lighting solution in Maya other than "saturation bomb with volume lights" is a good way to go. And yes, my avatar is a character portrait from Mutant League color corrected to match Polycount's scheme.
Ironic that I'm getting more constructive feedback here than GA...just saying.
I'm working on an abandoned exam room. Right now i'm trying to get the lighting right in Unreal 3. Here what a I have so far. The first pic is from Unreal 3 the other two are paintover's. Which paintover looks best?
@kodde: Thanks! Its a valley that gets its vitality from gases and starlight.
It'll possibly be in a game i'm working on, but it's not for sure yet.
I have to do some more work to it. I'm most likely going to make another section of the level have more types of life and some type of crazy rocks/stones. I want to make a more realistic sky for it also.
Thanks Dado, the deadline's Monday and I'm a bit busy with work and some other things between then but I'll try to burn the midnight oils and get as many of those changes in as possible. The only one I can see as any major problem right now is #2 since I'm already about 60 tris under the limit. The rest of the changes will mostly be a battle of making sure my textures don't get stretched out too much.
Blenderhead, thanks man, always good to get a compliment from a regular.

See who can guess who this is
Don't you know that in the future guns are super un-ergonomic? Look at Gears of War. :poly124:
Anyways, looks great handsandwich, can't wait to see it finished.
That is hilarious. Just watched that movie last night
A tornado and some new trees for my latest environment. I'm working with kismet to get the storms dynamic.

first time doing any art on my own time in a while, and I'm not about to start taking it seriously.
Scene and lighting is letting it a bit down so far, though.

oversaturated cartoony beaver of some sorts... Was experimenting with lighting on this one..
Yes, its a lensflare.
Now that I got your attention check out my lipsync animation.
Critique and advise is much appreciated.

cheers, Scoobs, I'm moving on from it - but good points to remember, thanks
Where's the "lipsync" part? Animation was cool, but I couldn't see much of facial animation...
@3DRyan - Yeah, it's a bit weird but I like they way it catches highlights :poly121:
Xoliul's wievport shader

its thumbsticks were played to a blah, so i cleaned it, greased it up, and chopped off a part of the springs to make it trigger easier.
Playing halo all day and triggering 10k each time, makes you want something smoother.
oeh and i made the thumbsticks and buttons black,
Diggin' that lineart, Dado!
Awesome Blazier!
Close to finished with this, hopefully not too overworked?

hehe yea agree. I find it hard not to make the jaw go like crazy, it's a fine line. But i guess i can exaggerate the eyebrows and the O's and F's.
I zoomed in and added a cut. Kinda like this version more.
