lol! is that a bar in front of your window?.. might you be in prison? :P jk
You should try and get some more dramatic lighting situations and paint those. It will help you understand lighting better inside a familiar space. for example, place a light in front of your bed, so it will cast long dramatic shadows across your wall. might be interesting
Doing a material test before I jump in with both feet.
Based on the sword from this Torchlight 2 concept. I'd like to do the entire character, but I wanted to make sure I could get the materials looking right before I started on any of the rest. I still have a ways to go before I'll be happy, but I think I know what I'm doing, so I'll be starting on the actual character soon enough.
I decided recently to finish up some of the ancient wips I have laying around, like my NWN1 module I started back in 2004 I don't know if anyone still plays it, but it keeps me busy when I don't feel like working on tattoo stuff!
This is a portrait I made for one of the characters:
Yeah, Joe, I know... don't use black to shade skin!
Murph & JFletcher really inspired me with their incredible work. I wanted to try and create a similiar Steampunkish robot as JFletch is working on right now for the Pre Dom War mini challenge. I started out with some rough sketches then made a quick 3D model so I could draw over in photoshop and flush out my designs. Thanks guys for your great inspiration.
Here are there sites if you want to look at some awesome work:
It is. Typical drumstick is ~16 inches, and a mic by comparison is 7-10 inches, but there's a few reasons for the size being what it is. The design is going to sit on a skateboard, where the skateboard will literally fit inside the shirt(portions of the left and right sides will be cut off in the process...to a point about flush with the left edge of the pocket and a little right of the bottom of the mic on the right). I chose to shorten them up so they would completely fit on the design.
The band it's for, Neon Trees(I'm sure at least some of you have heard of them, they have a pretty popular song that plays in a lot of recent commercials lately stateside), has a heavy 80's theme to them, and asked for a design to show kinda what they are about. In the video for their song "1983" they have Corey Feldman in there dressed up as his Lost Boys character, Edgar Frog. That's what the design is of. In place of the face will be the band name, and on the bottom will be the CD title("Habits"). Can't see it in this small screenshot, but on the pick on the necklace, it actually says "Habits" as well.
This is the song most have heard of theirs, if they don't recognize the name:

Ah I understand. I do love your art style, I like how clean it is. Nice work!
BCos > more bounced light buddy. Everything has a fairly contrasting shadow around it (ssao?). Get some reference and light the scene based on that reference.

To all of you who keep wondering what im doing, just hold on a bit more, when I get some more 3D stuff finalized it will all make sense
Current commission work in progress. It's going on a skateboard for the band Neon Trees. About 30% done at this point, still a long way to go.

@ onelunglewis - Awesome man - Work like yours makes me think I should be drawing more... lots and lots more
@ Swizzle - That expression is just great!
Looking nice man!, one question though why did you erase around your render?
I wanted to put all the focus on the parts I just completed - the exhaust
