Did this in about four-ish hours of painting class today. There are a bunch of issues I need to fix, but it's getting there. I'm starting to understand skintones, so that's a plus. I still have a long way to go, though.
great stuff Muzz.. really love the the temperature of this and the frame and light choice for the composition.. my only nit picky beef w/ it is where the edge of the hat on the left side meets w/ the edge on the canvas.. tiny tangent.. other than that.. love the sketch
Finished this bugger, on a tight deadline so I had to hella rush him :poly127: I will be making a topic with the finalized images tomorrow after I get some sleep
Hey, that's really nice. My only crit is the light right at the back up the stairs. Perhaps make it more easy to see? Maybe stronger? Right now the main light is the washed out sun.
Ironbear: There is something funky about this guys proportions that has bothered me every time I've seen it. I'm not sure exactly what you're going for, so its tough to put my finger on, but I'd like to maybe see some clear orthos and your concept.
Hi everyone! Just want to introduce myself, been surfing the polycount threads and checking out everyones work for some time. Keep up the good work!
Wanted to participate in helping others and myself in getting better at what we love. I started a 3D sketch thread, but a friend suggested that I just post here if I want a good critique. Should also help keep me motivated
Starting a stylized portfolio aimed towards Blizzard. Here is a wip of something I started with a concept from Diablo 3. Still real early in the modeling phase, just blocking things out. Haven't decided if I'm just doing the water tower parts in the mid-ground, or if I want to include the background and make a full scene (it's a little vague in the concept, we'll see!)
Jay - That looks great. I'm amazed you managed to keep the spherical shape using subd. I take it you just used a really highly segmented sphere in order to keep its shape?

Thanks.
Yea, I did start with half of a highly segmented sphere.
New Zbrush sculpt I'm working on, trying to capture the likeness of my favorite actor, Christian Bale.
Can't really find a good side reference though, so most of that is just guessing.
If you see something that looks really off right now, please share
Might turn it into a full character, like Patrick Bateman from American Psycho, Bruce Wayne from the Batman movies, or John Conner from Terminator Salvation
I was lucky enough to finish my Pre Dominance War character up last week. I was already in the working all the time and never sleeping mode so I wanted to see if I could create a character from scratch and be finished with in 7 days, while also CRUNCHING at work. I started on Monday and I finally finished here is my progression through the week and the final product.
Awesome onelung, wasn't sure if you were going to model it or not, turned out great, love the tex.
Nice sculpt Ferg.
Telmac, I can see a mountain back there, now use alot more contrast
Worked on this this weekend. 2? robots, Circuit and Breaker. Circuit's the little guy that flys around doing electrical/programming type things. If he needs to kick some butt he jumps into Breaker. Around 300 tris, 2048x1024 tex.
Blocking out some value. Im very new to This, so dont be harsh.
I know you said not to be harsh, but I can't think of another way of saying this... I don't know what that is. :poly136:
Edit: something just clicked - It's a mountain pass! Sorry! The reason why it was so hard to identify, is because there is next to no contrast there, the sky is essentially the same tone as the hills in front of it!
Think about what you should mean by 'blocking out some values'. Your filling out the spaces of light and shadow, defining the contrast and lighting of the place. think about the shapes your painting - just the rough forms - and thing about where the light is, and block in from there.
Remember, objects in the distance will have less contrast than those in the foreground, don't use black for shadows no matter how dark, and try and define the edges of your shapes with light and contrast rather than outlines. Good luck!
That thing specifically isnt what i am working on, im more working on that sort of thing. Two secnds ago i was working on a sort of side of a hill sort of thing. Im trying to be able to really get my ideas on paper (or in pixels) as i actually imagine them, and learning value at the same time. its working out not very well so far.
Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself. I recently downloaded blender (about 2 days ago) and I can't really model yet.... I hope to learn and get some feedback when I do. But what i have learned, is how to sculpt, thanks to this really useful vid on youtube. The video shows how to make a generic monster, but i ended up making a face, which eventually developed into this:
And earlier today, I was working on making a Na'vi from avatar... But then it disappeared, and I lost it. This taught me that saving every five minutes is not a bad thing. >.> Also, I have no idea how to texture or paint anything, so i might need some help with that too >.>

Quick storyboard sketch for our game's intro animatic.
Someone else will be actually painting it.
and a quick paintover, just for fun
Saw this on Facebook, totally agree. Is this done in Zbrush
Thank you!
Will do that. Have gotten a lot of good critique from different sources.
New animations coming soon.
For now, have some still life:
Sorry for the crude sketch... Maybe something like this. Not so boxy and more organic feeling like your arm part.

Thanks.

onelunglewis: Stylistically awesome! this dude totally brought a smile to my face. hilarious.
I feel like I'm spamming.
Started working on the robot (being modeled in what I assume to be it's "inside shell" position)

Hope this isn't too bad...
