Sweet man! As Two listen stated, you've really gotten much better over the year! Good job! Always nice seeing your sketchbook bumping up.
Also! I like that warm-up sketch. Got a nice feeling of depth and scale to it.
Max, every time I scroll though your skecthbook by the time I get to the end I want to crawl under a rock and die. Great stuff man we gotta catch up soon!
Cool stuff man! Very versatile and quite a marked improvement from the start of the sketchbook to the end. Clearly, you're a hard worker.
I'm loving the proportions on this last one esp. the skinny shin/ankle area. It would be awesome to see it taken further. I gotta say, I'm not digging the initials in the bottom right, bit sloppy and distracting. I noticed you try a lot of different signature styles, some of them better than others, I'd just knock them down a little, both in scale and value. Just my opinion, hope you don't mind.
Anyway, again, great stuff!
Thanks a ton you guys. @AimBiZ - I really want to model it. I'm always very wary of my hard-surface skills, but maybe I can find some wiggle room. Who knows? @Shanthosa - I almost always start with quick thumbnails just for proportion, pose and weight. From there, I pick a theme and then a few choice major details that I can copy over. Having a few major elements that you can reflect and reproduce throughout a design helps add some cohesive language to the sketch. In this case, it's the sloping plates, hydraulic tubes, and circular greebles. @Sputch - yeah, sorry for the sloppy finish. ( >_>') @afisher - Thanks
I just stumbled upon your sketchbook and saw it from the very first post to the last, reading every post and comment acknowledging your sunning art.For me all this shows a mark of a true artist who is willing to take chances, improve upon it's weakness, it's very much clear you compete with yourself.Very Cool and Inspirational stuff going on here.
yeah, and that ROBOT drawing with your cintiq is mindblowing.(you should've bought it earlier to produce such insane art :P) So your weapon conceptsand your helmet design on 3rd or 4th page.So was the sketch of dude with axe.All of it was terrific.
ageless: Wow, thank you for the kind words. It means a lot
acapulco: Thanks! I hope to model the robot soon
Justin: Ha, well I kind of broke the streak these past few weeks.
Noors: Get on it dude. It's the only way to get better.
I was watching Ravenslayer's Rembrandt livestream and felt compelled to do something similar. 6 hrs in photoshop.
you should totally do some drawing tutorial!
btw your thread was one of the 1st threads here on pc that i came upon and so i created an inspiration folder on my drive with your name, and update it every time new stuff comes..
what i love the most in your works are (obviously your scfi desings and) the eyes in general. it seems like you love that part when you draw a character coz their look is always very expressive. and i believe that's the essence of giving personality to a character!
keep us updated for all eternety!
@Blaisoid: Haha, sorry about those. I'll reupload it at a higher quality @tsabszy: I've been thinking about doing a tutorial for a while, just not sure what I'd cover that hasn't already been covered extensively (and also what I could competently convey).
cool image! like how you made them fit together so nicely with the color scheme.
They feel like they would fit right into torchlight. saved to inspiration folder ^^
Thanks a lot Twoflower. I actually haven't played much of the torchlight games (still need to get the second one).
More after-hours sketching! I saw the new mixamo contest and was trying to think of interesting zombie ideas, and then I thought about doing a sort of zombie bird-human crossover.

Just keep growing and competing with yourself.
Edit:
That Robot has super cool leg proportions!
Seriously, dude. Joseph is spot on. You're making the rest of us at Schell look like slackers...

i think the upper part of barrel could use few more details, it's good to have rest areas but that zone is very empty compared to other parts.
the lady with a bird looks great, her right arm looks quite stiff though.

And now for something completely different...
