Great work! Slick and readable presentation. Like you said a more interesting pose would push this piece but overall a top-notch piece. Love that metal
really nice finals gav, the materials are awesome! Such a shame ya didn't get this guy all posed out, really could see this guy blasting away with that gun. Congrats.
wow, you did great man ! I followed your thread from the beginning, but just created an account today ... Really love what you did on all the gears and stuff.
I agree with the other about the pose, would be cool to see him in action with the gun :poly004:
beautiful pose, texturing and final shading - so much character
i understand why you didn't get around to do a final pose and composition, with your busy schedule you deserve a congrats finishing withr such an awesome entry !
Hey, great final piece. I was just wondering how many polys your high poly ended up as at the amount of detail was amazing. I find it hard to believe you managed to load it all into one program for the normal map.
But this turned out pretty great man. I know rigging/posing this dude would have been a real big pain in the booty, but I think it would have really sold the character. Great work nonetheless though
Hey hey, thanks for all the support guys. The pose definitely is the weak spot, but I'm still happy with it nonetheless.
Nights: The final high poly was high in the millions once it's all together. In order to bake my normal and AO maps without my machine billowing smoke, I had to load in separate pieces at a time / bake multiple maps and piece them together manually. I plan on writing a "Making Of" covering this guy in the near future but I just wanted to chime in and say that your assumptions were correct. I think it total I did something like 20 bakes to get it right in XNormal.
The entries for PC are looking really strong this year, can't wait to see the results. Now we wait for DWV
Wow this came out awesome man. You got some real talent under your belt, its artisit like you that make me want to learn more and more, and push myself to the limit. How did you get those awesome glow effects, Ive never been able to get glow effects to work, I know u need a self illumination map, but thats about it.
Sorry to bump this up and disrupt the flow of the Jet Moto challenge...but i just wanted to pimp something else I have been working on involving Bishop. Nothing too fancy, but I basically wanted to make a tutorial that would make my previous ones (Leviathan and DW2) practically obsolete..
very nice tut Gav, thanks for posting it. the whole time you were working on him it reminded me of what i was trying to do with last years, so i may have to use your tut and get back to that guy...
oh, and congrats on placing higher every year bud!

turned out fantastic.
i think you are allowed to use hue/saturation on the winning pose, use photoshop and give the winning pose the same nice cold feel!
Good luck!
no pose though?
awesome textures!
