Hey Fletch, it's looking great! My only real comment is that it's hard to tell one part of it from another. Maybe changing the color of the extremities or something would help? i.e. forearms and lower legs tint towards red or something? Something to break it up a little more.
aye, its something i am pretty sure will just fade away when i go to do the texture and highlight certain bits better than others. i think the main thing causing what you see now is the ammo crate on the back breaking some of the silhouette from the front, this will probably be much darker later on to avoid clashing with the arm.
thanks for your concern.
close to done then im gonna start getting the cage done,
however still got quite a bit more to do more specifically on the arm-gun side elbow joint, connecting to the gun.
tell me if you think the barrel(s) should be longer, might play around with some different sizes.
fantastic build man, i like the update to the ammo casing too. only piece that strikes me as odd, is the sights on his barrels, i feel like as a robot, his targeting would be internal. it looks insane tho, are you gonna do an ammo belt from the gun to the pack?
yeah will be adding the belt feed, though obviously it would only be for cosmetic purposes with the high poly rather than actually in the bake, seeing as it will be deforming alot its probably best of i model it all straight.
also, about the sights, yeah its probably something i might change, but basically remains for cosmetics
the gun's elbow and arm is looking kind of stiff to me -- like it wouldn't be able to bend very well, or at an odd angle. maybe slide that hinge back a little? would probably be a pain in the ass. Wild gun! Very nice stuff.
Stunning work J. I love how even with all the greebles, my eyes shoot around it like a good composition. Awesome work keeping the design together, and I'm glad I didn't go mech!
son of a... the level of detail you've got on here, and the way it all works together is seriously impressive. i think my only concern (aside from wanting to give up everytime i open this thread) is that his mid-section is looking really vulnerable, and that it wouldn't take too much to chop him/it in half.
I've never done anything this kind of style before, and having to work in about 5000 vertices into all the little crevices by hand (used to low > hi sculpting, so this has taught me alot, and shown me some of my weaknesses i feel i should address)
but yeah, ive only just finished the low poly model itself, pretty fucking slow eh?
not much time left but im hoping i can get this mapped and work on the texture in time, whatever the cost i shall finish this.
alot of the wires, pipes etc are missing, these were things that just made a mess of the base shape, which i will add later on with the texture, with planes etc
9940 triangles so far.
will probably clean up alot of it as i go, just wanted to show something as it had been so long.
I was skeptical that you were going to be able to back all this down, but it looks like you are going to be a-ok! Now time for glorious UV's *smacks head*
Really nice stuff, your lowpoly looks like a solid base, UVs are definitely gonna be "fun" though, heh.
Can't wait to see it with normals and AO baked, it should look great even before texturing begins

I personally like the shape of the gun so I'd say leave it as is.
my favourite entry so far!

thanks everyone!
Nice updates...I have no crits other then he might want to lay off the teeth whitening toothpaste for a while
It looks like it might be a challenge to get the low poly under 10k tris, I wish you luck !
I'm not even on Polycount's side and I'm rooting for you.
i'll post it as soon as its done with some test normals.

Well done on pulling it through!
Tell me about it, my character is breaking me aswell. Your guy looks really good though.
I need an extention soo bad...
Good luck for the texture work.
