nice sketch of your character, like the shapes in the torso and the arms. but i think that the head could do with looking different. something other than a generic skull form.
anyways thats just my thought. shall be lookin forward to this one
i dunno, im really happy with where this can go from here, have had this up in my head for a while, more specifically that 'turbine' torso
either way im keen on finishing this drawing at least. :P
haven't done much today except get some more lines done, gonna start filling it all now, changed the head, your right it was way too generic, reminds me of iron man now that i look at it again. might go through some more head ideas.
10,000 poly limit, just noticed :O this is gonna be fun..
please excuse my lame way of "painting" in photoshop
need to learn how to use a tablet, lol (and having a cheap one on my desk for the heck of learning is proving even shitter than using a mouse, being THAT bad )
well actually im using a mouse, just find it to be more accurate, and can always tell where the end of the line will end up.
guess i just gotta get used to using one, but not sure if i should spend hundreds on a decent one that isnt worse than a mouse in order to just to find out.
No worries JFletcher, I had to get used to tablets too. my solution was to use it as much as possible. If your going to get a decent tablet i say go big and go Wacom, its usually the best way to go about it. Color pass is amazing so far. Keep It Up!
yeah could be even cooler with a thicker spine and I think it could use some kind of more obvious shoulder joint, it almost looks like his bicep comes straight out of the body with no shoulder joint - This will probably be resolved in 3d and is more likely just a result of the chosen 2d perspective. anyway your one to watch Im sure
Yeah Ged i was thinking the same thing, and the concept doesnt seem to show it as i hope to in the 3d model, maybe this pic will make some joints a little clearer by example:
those cylinders coming out of the middle of the turbine looking upper body would be 'shoulder joints' so that the whole visible arm can pivot around that center
Thanks spark, as long as i'm creating something that looks like it had sex with a mechanical behemoth my job is done.
did some more today, (ye im slow) reached a basic point where i think im just gonna block out the rest of the model quickly to not avoid some messy flow later on trying to move all the little pieces because the pose looked iffy.
you wernt lying about the metal shit!!!! it looks awesome man the head looks kinda insectoid to me i like that alot. also the plates on the top of the neck work extremely well jawsome stuff man cant wait for updates!

Also go back to thumbs, as badass as this looks you will always gain something from more thumbs.

In my head i kind of imagined the turbine spinning to generate some sort of anti grav force that levitates itself.
kind of like those vehicles from star wars: clone wars.. i'll try and find a pic..
edit:
ok i cant find it,
"it just floats"
keep it up
yeah.
spine is a bit small consider how much weight it supports.

lookin real sweet man
im lookin forward to seeing this one develop
pretty much the gist of it, im happy with it so far but i think the lower legs could be less thick to make the upper body look stronger...
or i could do it the other way round, copied and pasted something, i think this idea below could look awesome.
edit:
gonna make the spine thicker, even with my lame idea of the upper body floating itself it still looks weird

whacked the spine up a notch:
it should look okay now, although maybe a little more support could be used, got an idea which i might expand on
lets get this shit rolling! :>
eyes should show up better at a distance with it all textured i hope, otherwise might make a bit bigger
yes, im slower at high poly modeling than the rest of you, big woop, wanna fight abou' it?
I need to practice drawing. Lots.
looks great, good modeling so far!

doesn't matter if you go slow its the quality that is impressive
