Those are really great heads for only half an hour, fogmann! It's definitely refreshing to see characters that aren't completely generic. They have a lot of character to them.
The second head is a huge improvement over the first, scumworks...looks like you're getting the tools down. It looks like you aren't mirroring your sculpting. This is a huge advantage so you can get the shapes down and then turn it off to create asymmetry. Just look to the right in the tools window, and in the mirror axis drop down menu, select "mirror on the X axis" or whatever axis you'd like it to mirror. If you already knew this, forget I said anything
Glad to see someone likes my work! Those two characters are my first attempts working with a sculpting program - and so far I am sold on the premise. Can't wait to upgrade my comp to handle more polys...
I just got Zbrush (FINALLY!) This is the first thing I've ever sculpted. I guess he's some kinda rat-man. an hour, more or less. still learning this wacky program.
edit: did a bit more work. leaving old image up for comparison sake, i guess.

@dfacto: if you'd use a sphere as a guide they would be way easier to do

first time for me to use zbr3 (ahh, it feels awesome...). took about a hour or so; started with the rapid UI shpere
A bit more than 2 hours from a sphere
started from a sphere, near two hours work
I went over the hour limit by a half, I feel bad
So 10 mins in Max for base model, 1 hour in MB and 2 mins to export to Zbrush.
hehe
First sculpt from a base mesh. Subd level 4, if anyone's curious.
Edit: 1hr/10min
I have a lot to learn but its a very fun process.

Keep Going, I'm looking forward to Your next piece.
in your style totally
<1hr, Arsh's bust base again. Starting to feel pretty comfortable with ZB, may try a more serious project soon.
Edit: Per, awesome.
