This is the first sculpt from a box that I've done worth showing. It's good fun, but I can never get much further than this without my computer choking. I probably should have defined the forms better earlier on instead of trying to jump into detail too soon.
quick one done with my generic human head basemesh, based on some photographs by and with Clarissa Schwarz
something like 2-3 hors and some minutes playing in ps on the greyish version, the modelled haird sucked so i had to paint over a little and got off the course and did the eyes also
Neox, great as usual.
Quick one from me: total time 29minutes.
First trying from a box, works kinda cool and no need for basemesh... i like. Also did a timelapse, not as helpfull as Neox's one but perhaps might be handy for someone. http://vitorf.planetaclix.pt/1.wmv
@Neox
Thx for the great timelapse.
Why do you working all the time in a very high subdivision?
The flow of my lines gets allready lost in level 7, seems i need a better PC
@ Jaco
I really like these sharp lines.
@ Vitor
Looking good, would be nice to see it detailed.
@ vitor
Nice fast one, except the eyes, what you did with that? Maybe you should try to use spheres as eyes.
@ allyx
His eyes are much too small and the eye sockets are not really seeable. You should gather some reference for the eyes and the mouth or just use a mirror, thats a very good reference.
This is my first time posting here...I've been using Maya for almost a year now, and I just found out about Mudbox and downloaded the trial the other day.
I have been using reference, things just have not been turning out the way it should be and I just tried to stay with the 1 hour range since things got too warped looking to bother continuing.
This is supose to be another female head. I'll try another one after I fix up the base mesh topology to see if it can work things out better than this one.

I've never been able to get lips down quite right, myself. I should be taking notes. Any tips?

Try fiddling around with the brush falloff settings - the presets are pretty nice and can usually get you the results you need.
Other than that, use references as EQ said! Knowing what they looks like you can determine what you need to use to get the desired result.

I seem to have troubles in the tight areas like the lips eye lid creases.
Out of box and its possibly under 3 hours.

Thanks,I'm glad I found this place. It's pretty cool, alot like CGsociety, except it doesn't cost money to register.
I'll try to post more stuff as I do it, I hope to someday be as good as some of the other people around here.
