DK - Yeah I was really just using Revliss sketch as a starting point, since the cute face was already there. I just tweaked it some and took it in my own direction.
tnx KP, where are your sketches man? -edit- just checked out your site. good stuff
Haven't felt too creative this weekend, so I decided to do some "speed" paints. I rarely (if ever) do these so I don't feel I'm an authority of the subject, but I made some progress shots anyway. Hopefully someone will find something useful in them. =}
These are concepts for my Mr Mint redesign, and the bottom right is a "tree sociopath" random idea I had and want to take a bit further with more thumbnails.
This is originally from the Concept Tag thread, but I was particularly pleased with how it turned out, so I thought I'd throw it up here as well. The two threads are irrevocably married now, anyhow, because they have a daughter on the way... because they had sex. With each other.
I wouldn't mind tagging a lot of the sketches in here is what I'm getting at.
Haha nice one Phobos! I was getting the same vibe from him. I also feel the need for the concept tag and this thread to merge in some way. Oh holy Gauss of the administrative mountains, do you hear our prayers? Perhaps the locking of the Sketch and Tag threads is in order and a new king shall be named "Sketch n Tag". What say you??
Damn you people, every one of you. May you have artist block for the next 6 hours. HA!
I've stayed up a little later than I usually do, just because inspiration struck at exactly 2:30 am. I know, teh fuzz... it's forbidden... but I feel I am being pulled back to my roots. I like his bike, though. It's shiney.
[UPDATED BELOW]
haha! nicely done makkon, even if it is furry great job with the colors... my only crit would be that the image is a weeeee bit static; how about some dust plumes receding from behind the jetbike, like he's just stopped or is about to go zooming off? good stuff regardless.
I agree with gauss' crit, and I also just noticed that the foot position makes him look like he's standing still, but the rest of the pose looks as if he's going really fast. Maybe reposition the foot/leg in a more "streamlined" position?
actually what's a lot of fun about the image is that with a little bit of tweaking, you could either suggest that the character is less than a foot off the ground, or thousands of feet off and that ridge to the right is actually the side of plateau, far below. all you'd have to do is put the foot in a riding position, and then shrink the shadow way down to correspond with how high up the character is now. just a thought
SHEPEIRO: Thanks, dude. Yeah, I like the way the metal turned out too.
gauss: Heh, added the dust cloud. It definately makes a difference. As for the sahdow idea, maybe I can submit it to the concept-tag thread. It'd be fun to mess around with.
Ferg: Yeah, added that too. It makes a difference as well, makes him look like he's moving.
killingpeople: Thanks! I had fun with it.
noritsune: Not so sure about a conrail. You only get such a thing at high altitudes and low temeratures. As for the emptyness in the right, it's really a composition thing. I added the dust cloud to the right a bit to fix it up.
And here it is. Aside from recomended changes, I also darkened the bike. May have not been a smart move... dunno. Unfortunatly, when I made those changes, I also had to re-adjust the image levels and overlays, so the colors and values may be slightly different. (I also sized down the older picture).
A late night tribute to an old memory...a few years ago some friends and I had an old chocolate easter bunny, some fireworks, and access to a long abandoned sandpit near a housing development. So we decided to give it a viking funeral...actually it more like an explosive, firey end. Anyway to bring it current, a friend mentioned it yesterday on IM, and I felt compelled to memorialize it...ah blowin stuff up with fire works
That's some good texture, Cthogua. I also like the background, the ancient text works well with what you have. Unfortunatly, it's hard to tell what the subject matter is. Perhaps some sharper edges rather than blotchy shapes would make it stand out better, at least near the top of the bunny. Good stuff.
Thanks EQ and Neal. I appreciate the feedback.
I got another one. I don't know what's wrong with me, but I have a real obsession with desert landscapes. It's like... something I love. Must be because I live in Utah. :P
Anyway, I need to wait till the next page to post again. Just seems courtious.
Makkon: I really like the posing of your characters...thats currently something I'm trying to improve with my own work. The landscape is quite nice as well...great atmosphereic perspective and brush work...angled brushes are great.

shiney but scratched bike material comes off r5eally good and the riders funky too
