Well, here is my fist attempt at sketching on the PC. The mouse is a poor substitute for a pencil I have just moved country so I have to buy a new sketch pad and pencils....
UPDATE Now its turned into something I am really happy with, better than pencils even (well for me at least).
good work on taking care on the smaller details on that design, dfacto. little areas like the trigger guard really help sell the concept and firmly denote what tech level/style that's going on.
Thanks gauss. I'd say that's what I intended, but I'm just anal is all.
Spacey: nice!
Ortho for freelance work.
Perspective shot that came out kinda lame. Can't say I like it, but the feathers and animal anatomy were definitely a first for me and it came out acceptable.
Cthogua you got some PROBLEMS. i don't even want to think about your pre-work food cravings
glad to see Ash and Snemmy posting to this thread. oh, and would someone tell KP to post the stuff he posts in the What are you working on thread in here?
I started messing with Painter and wanted to get an idea from the folks out there on what brushes people liked using.
I started playing with digital watercolors on this one. They were ok to use, I liked how they would glaze over each other and how they blend with the blender, just add water, but i want something i can still get opaque with at times, something that i can gradually layer over my line work too. How do you guys like to work with Painter?
ThatBoyJeremy: Personally I'm a big fan of the smeary palette knife, and the tinting basic round for starters. It takes time, but basically you just need to go through as many of the tools as you can every once in a while--you'll find a few that you like, and then you can add them to your custom palette.

Quick character concepts-
Paintover for a friend
here's about a 45 minute "speedpaint" i guess, not exactly a sketch:
Gauss that place reminds me of Jeuno in final Fantasy XI for some reason. Circular shape with the sea right there, either way it looks really nice!
Are those sails/masts on the right side?
@Snowfly
I'm very much liking this style! The first one has a cool feel to it. The jaggedness of certain lines and the texture really brings it all together.
*applauds*
thankyou!
Btw Aesir, your drawings are getting steadily better all the time. I like them
I feel pretty lame posting my crap in this thread full of awesomeness. I feel like I'm tainting it.
Yes, I said taint.
finally got around to trying some custom brushes in ps...
looks like some bobo wore off on you.
Pistol concept for a HL2 mod that I can show. Mod is Wretched Abandon and we could use some modellers.
Snowfly: Dig those character concepts. Is that the true concept for the amputated psychic chick (from the tag thread)?
aesir: Really like that second sketch. More like that, plz
gauss, los, ghost, dfacto: Keep doing whatever you're doing. It's working.
Yeah...
(ugh, I'm seeing a recurring theme of fat things hunched over)

I would love to have that as a poster for my kitchen
Anyway, heres a doodle of some sort of helmet for a creature.
I'm still playing with this, I need to go back and design the whole front side.
