Illusions, the lips look a little wide and fat, but I dig the brown camo. Good job on the lenses too, nice.
Neal B4me, nice sexy lips. I like the dirt on her face, but I think she could use some more color in her skin tones, especially on the forehead. Bit more orangey I think.
Brice, i dig the orange, but I think you kept everything too high key. Try to have some areas that are a bit darker, in order to give a flow to the viewers eye. I esp like the metal work "brain" pattern. 8-)
Bobo, yours is awesome, as usual. Great colors, nice hair, and I dig the scars.
Killing people, great volume but I think the colors are a bit bland. I think for this guys skin tone, painting it in color first would have been better. his lightplanes and shadows are looking a bit too grey. I dig his chin, its mostly the cheeks below the eye, and the forehead that do it for me
Rockstar I like the soft lighting on him.
Makk, you have pimped some seriously nice heads in this thread. I think your rendering skills are superb, you might want to work a bit more on design, and you will have it all man. Great job.
Dn, you have a cool color schem goin gon, but your face looks kind of overly red, and like he was painted and the paint was rubbed off. Try to get a bit more color variation in there, and don't be too heavy handed on the red.
Dig dog dig: the skin has a nice translucent quality to it. I think it lacks a bit of contrast tho, its all pretty bright.
Ruzy, I always love your work. Really nice job on him, just get rid of that seam on his chin!
hahaha yeah, it kinda does me too. The cheeks are pretty round, if thats what you were going for you pulled it off very well. I think if you flattened out the cheeks it would really sharpen him up. Just my 2 cents.
Actually, I watched A Night at the Roxbury last weekend, must have had some subliminal effect on me. I totally see the likeness myself now
Yeah I'll give him some cheek bones, he is looking a bit round. I'm still deciding what to do with the cowl, I'll probably end up just doing some generic space suit vents n stuff.
well i just bought a wacom recently, and i must say its tottally worth the money, the amount of control i have now painting reminds me of driving stickshift for the very first time, it took a bit to get used to but after i got used to it i decided to take another crack at shimmers head, it took me half the time to make this than the other head skins i posted, gonna try to attempt metal agian next update
ryan77 I can see good potential there keep on chuggin.
Slaughter, just keep on practising. Looking good , but just try and get it a bit sharper.suppose its just a combination of smudge , dodge and burn/paint to get it less blurry looking
Hollowmind - everything looks a bit overdefined IMHO.makes her features look a bit 'thin'
alas my chin 'crack' was sheer laziness. a result of my pshop 'mirror head' action
Slaugther It's looking real good. It seems to me you need to zoom in more, work with the really small brushes and put some time into adding detail. The shadows seem kinda plain and monochrome so some smudging to gety some darker and brighter areas of shade would help. Burn lines around the eye, eyebags and between the lips.
Nice to see an ms3d guy improve so much on the texturing, assuming it is the same slaughter from the ms3d forums I'm adressing?
Argh! I got around to skinning Killing's head and now my net connection at home is busted! =(
I havent been able to get a signal with my cable modem for 5 days, im going crazy. Hopefully everything will be working again soon, until then I can only browse while at work =(
This looked like a lot of fun so I decided to join in on it. This is my first art post here and first time texturing a head (though not the first time texturing).
man illusions yours is really great, love the brown/black colour scheme
btw ive got a head for you guys to play around with.
but its not exatcly finished ( no ears and such ), and i dont know how to do UV's either head
tell me if you want it
256. it was a little tricky to get the eyes looking forward EQ, as the hemispheres of the eye geom point outward a bit. no biggie tho.
my ears suck. and the eyebrows are too high. meh
Not had much time to work on this since I last posted, I'm getting there slowly I suppose. I couldn't think of any funky ideas for the cowl so I just worked a bit more on his face.
Fuse, I think it'd be best to finish it up before you release an SDK. Though I hope you do release one, because that one looks like it would be fun to texture.
Finally got done with this chubby bastard. I've been working on this guy bit by bit for what now seems like years.
looks good badname.. but really dont keep that as the final
put some more contrast on the helmet and some color variation! Like hot pink racing stripes or something..
badname:

figured id toss something in. Plugging away after a bit of spare time at work.=)
(edit to update image from last night at home)
I really cant actually run max and photoshop at the same time at home. haha. Sad state of affairs, to be sure. But i worked the texture a bit more anyway.
Hey there Decoy, Awesome work. I love teh colors. 8-)
Try giving her some kind of face abnormality. A cataracted eye, maybe a scar, or a slice through her eyebrow where hair doesn't grow. She seems a bit "soft" at the moment. Toughen that chick up.

first pimp for ages.Wish I had n't done the skin so light . Its a 'bit' easier to do darker skins.

A bit more progress. Still need to fix the hair, finish the eyes and jazz up the metal cowl.
Hows this for contrast?
cheers poop.I will have another try this weekend. your's was full of character BTW
BTW is it me or does bobos flat look like mike myers? great techinique though
Yeah I'll give him some cheek bones, he is looking a bit round. I'm still deciding what to do with the cowl, I'll probably end up just doing some generic space suit vents n stuff.
You can call me digdog, dig dog dig is too long.
Warhawk: That's a cool model and skin. I've liked all the skins you've shown and I might do a skin for your biker head.
Ruz: Nice work, now get rid of the black line going through his chin, hehe.
killingpeople: Damn you! I wanted to do something like what you did for this gogglechick.
I don't even know who else to mention. Lots of great work in this thread.
Is there a trick to get the texture a bit cleaner? :]
nice toasty! uve come so far ;D it brings tears to my eyes ;_;

good workings

I´m having problems with smudging...it always looks kinda ugly when i use the tool.
@nkoste
You´re right...
I´m not skinning a lot of my own models cause i suck at uv mapping.
btw
I finished this head if anyone is interested...someone would have to do the uv-map tho.
can't wait to do another one
btw ive got a head for you guys to play around with.
but its not exatcly finished ( no ears and such ), and i dont know how to do UV's either
head
tell me if you want it
Heres an sdk for a head i just modeled: http://www.planetquake.com/polycount/cottages/crash/earthquake/newhead.rar everything should be in working order, let me know if anyone spots any problems... .lwo, .3ds and .obj included.
This is a early wip still in 512*512. That need much more work on the skin
-jerome-
256. it was a little tricky to get the eyes looking forward EQ, as the hemispheres of the eye geom point outward a bit. no biggie tho.
my ears suck. and the eyebrows are too high. meh
I dont realy like the model much, but lol that skin is ROFL, love it!! win!!!
b1ll
Finaly starting to get a hang of this
C&C would be VERY welcome

update C&C is welcome
should i release ?
Finally got done with this chubby bastard. I've been working on this guy bit by bit for what now seems like years.
the skin looks cool. the lights on his collar's edge make make it look extra thin, other than that, i really dig.
i think this is the final, unless something popsup.
put some more contrast on the helmet and some color variation! Like hot pink racing stripes or something..

I
work
slowwwwwwwwwly.
The jpeg compression screwed the overall picture a bit.
File here: 'head-uv.zip'

Hmm scar dont you think a face abnormality might be over doing it a bit, a bit to obvious???
But you might be right Ill try it see how it looks.
thnx for the comments! I tried to increase the contrast a little bit.
thnom i like your model maby i'm gonna give it a try!
here is a wip. still got to figure out what to do with the mouth
