phwooar! that is looking really cool mrrogers
damn damn damn! there is some really great stuff going on.
On personal note, I would like to say thanks to the guys who have released head models. I know that Im not the only one who is improving thanks to this
Here is Mops spacegirl done, fairly hasppy though my metal work sux and like qube said my eyes arent that convincing
hey makk. nice skin now. i think u should invest a little
more time. cuz as u said this is atleast for lots of people
about getting better. since its such a small task.
however ill give ya again a few minor directions.
check out the eyes. u did a quiet good job doing the eyes
them self shading wise. they have some issues tho in the
shape. and coloring. do u skin greyscale? seems like it
becuz the eyes have that blue. that specific blue.
lips have that specific red. mhm however back to the eyes.
they gotta have their highest peak to the inner and their
lowest peak to the outer.
does that make sense? also the face seems to
small or the head to wide. i cannot quiet put my finger on
it if its the model or the skin but i had the same problems
therefor i added that fabric stuff around her face.
the armor isnnt really that bad i must say. u could still
kick it a bit i think. adding a bit overlaying texture to
it here and there. encreasing contrast between the different
surfaces. that makes it all clear. clean design. ya know.
easy read for the viewer. also that ear piece is pure grey.
inconsistancy here. get the tone u used for the other metal
in there. or creat a unique tone. nothing can be grey tho
bouncing lights and such cuz it all to have a shade of
color.
Looks really awesome all, before I jump into this, does anyone know of a good face skinning tutorial? im having trouble with the starting stages. thanks.
Qube, thanks heaps for the crits. You are right, I didnt spend enough time on the metalwork!
I dont skin greyscale for flesh, the colours must have turned out that way! I think I understand what you mean about the shape of the eyes as well.
I probably should add a small bit of hair as the large forehead might be making the face look small.
Good point about the grey coloured ear piece, never really thought about that but its a handy tip to know.
Once again, thanks for the crits I appreciate it
X-convict for some reason your pic didnt show up for me last time but now that I see it I must say that I really like the metal work youve done
Killing- man that is coming along really well I really love that brown rust that you got going on it
And here is my work for the fat head model-
Fairly happy with it. There is something about the cheek highlights that looks weird and once agian the eyes arent that great. The red thing is supposed to be a poncho, btw
enough for now. might get back to it, but I'm staring blind at the moment, anything is an improvement even if it isn't if you know what I mean.
In case anyone is wondering, the flaking on the red parts is handpainted (the nocturna.com brushes are GREAT to bad the downloads are gone [yes they were free])
If anyone is interested in a gazillion custom brushes let me know and I'll uppload them
errr... jumping on the bandwagon, been awhile since I've done a face. I know the nose is too big, I know the helmet sucks (just layed down the base colors, have not even started on it)
but anyway! here you go... great thread btw
So I'm a little late getting in on this. Been real busy with some other stuff. I'm going to try and get caught up over the next week or so. Great model Mop!
Trying a new method for painting metal. Mostly dealing with how I worked with my layers. REally happy with how it turned out
Smo- that looks really cool, reminds me of the space helmets that were in the final fantasy movie.
Cep- looking good. Real smooth and nice underlighting
Crash- I really like that first version. Nice metal work (particuly the chin) and colour scheme.
Qubism- wow, really good as always.
We need some more SDKs!!
My second ever skin , her eye brows were shaved off at a party , thats why she looks so pissed off. i really need to get better at making metals and plastics etc ... i copied the design from alien , sortof ... then got fed up with it , ill start another some time ...
Mop - this is really nicely unwrapped ... a pleasure to make a skin for ...

Hey, anyone planning on making more skinning videos any time soon?
Any Tips for it?
Early Wip...(also trying to decide whether to have the eyes as orange, or blue...suggestions?)
...damn you KillingPeople...that thing looks like its going to turn out awesome and original...
i think im getting the hang of these things called faces :O!
its actually a full model SDK, but you should be able to get some good skins of its head (its a dragon, and the head is a sepperate mesh)
started on those two. dunno which one to keep working on. probably neither of them if i know myself as well as i think i do.
a lil update. im not really happy with the model i must say.
some areas are just boring.
Here is the start of my first skin ever
"arrr I may have been passable in the early 90's"
That latest one is coming along well Qube, its the richness of the colours along with that subtle central specular highlight that sells it.
forgot to post that ;x
I'd love to hear some suggestions on the color scheme.
Qube: I love it:)
the nose is nice. i gotta rework mine.
face looks like plastic. not wrong i like it. doesnt work with the wornout cap tho
