Crossposting! Finally got something done. Took two month to finish this one when I only had time on weekends. Rendered with V-ray so it´s not real-time. My first time with characters and skin shaders
Hello. Before i start i am a bit of a noob.
Been hanging round here for a year or so, admiring some of the epics you gods among us can create, thinking "i cant post my drivel on there! It`ll be an insult to the whole computer graphics based industry!" But still wanting to. So here it is. And isn`t it a shower of hot cloudy piss.
First attempt at DDO
Work in progress Low poly (2000ish) 2k textured support column
Modeled and rendered in Blender.(badly. normals 2, too strong and gloss, toss)
Lots of great work here! Just completed a character that I had been working on in my free-time. The character is a type of giant humanoid with cultural influences similar to barbarians.
Hey guys, so my friend Joeri Vromman was kind enough to let me use his gun for the old guy, i still need to finish texturing him but now that he has the gun he certainly looks a lot cooler :P took some screens for you guys to check it out
I've been watching you make this guy, not too shabby. I'm not sure about the look with that cavity map/AO. If you're going to make it stylized like that you might as well brighten the colors up a little bit.
Been working on this on and off for a while. The cylinder gave me quite a bit of trouble but once I got through that it's been pretty smooth sailing since. Eventually I am planning on baking this down into a game usable asset.

Marmoset 2 renders :
Gorgeous work. Has a nice Half-Life 2 vibe to it
Still working on this barbarian/gladiator/samurai dude. Also playing with BPR rendering for the first time.
Thanks guys! still need to finish the texture but its getting there i think
Denny: i can rig him well enough to pose and for basic stuff like walk cycles but yeah i am not good enough yet to actually do a fully functional rig with all the bells a whistles
My attempt at a Chuck Liddell likeness. Not as close as I would have liked it in the end, but I have to move on to another project. Still always very open to critiques though.
More work on the Skaarj. Body is pretty good. Probably going to give it a detail pass in the near future, then build the equipment in Max or something.
awesome job as usual guys!
loving the sculpt turpedo!
love the texture work Calvin
great job on the bust afisher
nice job on the sculpt/render michael milano ^^
Nice work YBourykina I love all that stylized stuff. I think the buffer on the left shoulder makes the character seem unbalanced though, just my personal opinion.
I think i'm ready to unwrap and texture this guy now, I may tweak his spine a little before I do so, it looks too flat.
This looks impressive Froyok. One small point, although I am being very picky, you can still see the spec on the skin when it is transparent. Other than that, Awesome!
Long time no post in this thread!
Obieteru: Really nice shapes. Gotta love clean planar sculpts
Calvin: Sick weapons! Did you get the job?
Katia: Nice start, always good to see more stuff from you
I'm working on a Hellboy right now, just getting everything blocked in

Thanks !
It's probaly something else and not a specular reflection since my material is set to masking (aka alpha test). Therefore what is transparent is fully transparent, there is nothing else.
Maybe it's the bloom of even the skeleton behind which look a bit strange ?

Rendered in Marmoset
10480 tri's

Thanks!
Part of a larger environment I've been working on. Just a simple pillar.

Really clean work, I love it.
Spiffy: mmm 5-2=3 half life 3 confirmed xD but thanks man i appreciate it, i just need to get off my lazy ass and start finishing the texturing
Also i wanted to once again thank Joeri Vromman for letting me use his awesome gun with my dude
The textures are too dirty, I think I went too far with the damage on the metal. I'll need to practice more.
I made these a little over a month ago as part of an art test for World of Warcraft.
here's the thread: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=137528

Finished the bakes a while ago, but now I finally started texturing this beast.
This is great man, thanks for posting!
Found some time to work on the textures some more. Cheers guys!
Shameless crosspost, but I got more work done on this guy.

Model by Drew Watts.
