Spent some time in DDO trying to do a decent weapon texture. Think Im starting to figure out how to work with the program now and how to create custom stuff. What I need to figure out now is how I can paint masks for different areas and add material detail to just that area. The mag as example would need alot more wear and scratches but I havent figured out how to just affect that area without having it be a separate material.
seven: haa! Is it the father from Brave or I'm just halucinating? ace proportions, and cool style.. especially the hair! I'm wondering how you did it..
It's not but I guess there's a little bit of influence from pixar characters (including brave). That's the quality I'm aiming for at this point. Right now it's pretty rough and a lot of dynamesh. Next step on the body is to make retopo the body and crisp where it needs to be and smooth where it doesn't using proper edge loops.
The hair is totally block out but I appreciate your enthusiasm. For the pony tail and base head hair it was just a cube that was dynameshed. For the long hair I took a cylinder and masked out a spiral, used extract mesh. I pushed and pulled using the move tool and then placed it around his head. I inflated it a bit using the deformation global then dynameshed it to get a solid piece that was a bit more manageable. I like the direction it's headed but it's far too soft for what I see in my head.

hehe well I believe you are on the right track for that quality for sure! I'm curious what direction you will take this, and what level of detail you are aiming for.. will you only post the progress here, or is there a thread you have for this? wouldn't wanna miss the progress!
Kurt Russell Fan Club: good point! Thanks I'll fix that
Lots of evils as always going on in this thread! Inspirational stuff. I feel the need to add something of my own so here is a shameless cross post from my Projects thread. Working on finishing this fellow first! Did a nice update for the head. Hope you like it.
XaKu: Really nice sculpt man! Any chance you could put together some kind of breakdown/tutorial showing how you created such a realistic fish scale pattern?
Texelion, for the love of god man think of the hips!!! sorry in a Star Trek mood :P Looking great so far but the forearm is looking a little flimsy, the hair on the other hand is looking good. Keep it up man.
Little update on my Torchlight 2 item. Still a bit to do but its coming along.

Here was the earlier sketch before I fleshed out the sculpt itself. No asymmetry pass at this stage yet.
