Hi everyone, How would I approach making 45 degree turns in a modular set? I made a section like this that works great with 1 tile but the more tiles I add the more it breaks: Is there a better approach in doing this sort of task? Should I simply intersect geometry and cover the intersection? (might be difficult for walls:…
I was hoping someone could help me out with this issue in UDK. I've got a modular piece here, but where the meshes meet I get this dark line. Is there a way to fix this? I tried upping the lightmass res for the object, and it has a second set of UVs for the lightmass.
Below are some pics of a modular level I am working on. The corridor parts are done and I am working up to larger areas. My question is what is the most game efficient way to finish the larger areas as I don't see logic in adding all the details with the structures in one fbx file. Most of the details will be modelled btw.…
ugh! I guess I am done. Still figuring out how I want to display my textures... but I figured I would go ahead and get this up here. This was some work I did for 3docean. You can go and buy this over there. Here is a link to my collection. I hope you guys like this. I learned a lot. First hand painted texture attempt as…
Not sure if this is a stupid question/technique but I've run into a few issues while making modular assets with the normal maps I was planning on creating a few walk way panels with model variations but using the same textures between the variations. As you can see the normal maps look fine with the straight piece but are…
Right now here is what I am doing. I create the texture maps in zbrush, they tile properly. I applied the textures to a polygonal plane and moved some vertices up and down,, is this the way to go? Should I use more polys on these? Or should I be using these textures as a terrain texture (im working with the ce3 sdk).…
Many ways to achieve this. Search "modular" on the wiki. http://wiki.polycount.com/w/index.php?search=modular&go=Go&title=Special:Search One easy way, make the texture tile with itself in multiple places. Ben Mathis called this Thirding and made a quick tutorial on it.…
Hi when I watch 3dmotive about modular building he was using power of 2 by using 2048 texture and grid 128 in photoshop then he use in 3dsmax the grid to 32 and put plan with 16*16 segement and that allow him to snap perfectly. but since I will use the decimal grid , (I know you can change in unreal to power of 2) I want…
Hey,I started working on small environment so the problem I encountered is that its mainly made from brick walls and that its all going to end up looking the same so I was thinking of using mesh painting but I don't know if I should make every wall subdivided so it has 4 vertices on every face and would that affect the…
Hai. There is a modular element (house wall). It consists of logical separate elements (materials): Facade - wooden beams, cladding. Inside - a wall with interior decoration. Please help me point out the best way to create such an object with different materials.Create different objects, texture them, then stitch them…
