Was wondering if anyone has created a fairly simple and easy breakdown of the best ways to texture for certain materials. ie, for material A your diffuse would be a patterned texture, spec would be white, cosine would be black and your normal would be the surface material? Just thought it might be interesting to have a…
When you apply a materials to max objects it will automatically create a sub object material unless they are seperate objects... If you name the material the same in max as the material in unreal it should automatically assign the materials to the material ids... if they are loaded... at least it used to work that way.…
I've got an asset that includes some metal surfaces and a glass surface. I looked through the docs on Layered Materials and through the available properties on the Material Functions I created. Even though "Make Material Attributes" has "Refraction", I don't see a way of having one Function be Glass (i.e. Blend Mode =…
Hey guys. Now that I am a little more comfortable with PBR and Quixel I want to get into making a few more custom materials, I would like to delete my experiments and frankly bad custom materials. Is it a case of finding where they are saved and deleting all the relevant files? I also noticed when trying to find them that…
I have a model that in Max has multiple textures and multiple Material IDs. I am told that UE3 will handle this with little to no problem. What I can't seem to figure out is how to associate Materials made in UE3 to the material Id's specified in Max. Won't I have to rig up a separate material for each ID in UE3? A shove…
Hello. I'm trying an interior viz project to get my hands dirty with UE4. It's my first real project using the engine. The issue is that I made a master material to cover most of my material needs. Now, some of the material intances are showing up the generic gray boxes instead of the texture maps. In the first image,…
Some of the materials that i made for my Marmoset Materials Collection SSS available on my ArtStation store page. They are all made and rendered inside Marmoset Toolbag using Subsurface Scattering, Refraction and in some cases, Emissive light all in one shader of course. No UVs needed. GI must be enabled for SSS and…
I have been working on my roof, and I am considering two approaches to achieve results similar to No Rest for the Wicked. Since the game uses a top-down view, their roof tiles are quite flat because they don’t require much depth. However, this wouldn’t work in my environment, as I want it to work well from multiple angles.…
I use Substance Designer and Unity5. I am not sure if this could be set up in Substance Designer as a Substance and exported to Unity. I need a material which could allow multiple materials/textures maps stacked ontop of each other, with each one using a different UV set. currently you can only add a 'secondary map' with…
***I'm fairly new to the ins and outs of creating complex materials so bear with me. I'm following a tutorial about creating landscape materials and the narrator has ticked a box in the material properties that says "used with landscape". That box doesn't seem to be here in 4.18.2. Is it renamed to something else or no…
