Yeah Yeah Yeah, starting this off a little early. I just couldn't wait.

I went home to Texas for Thanksgiving holiday and while there I attended the Dallas sketchgroup.
The_Brid and I signed and exchanged sketches with the intent to both post each others work. He even gave me one of his prized Tuscan Red pencils!

He'll post mine once he gets it scanned in. In the meantime be sure to post the sketching you do over the holidays!

Here are a couple I have done as warm ups for a concept art project im working on .

Love your style Bobo sorta whimsical . That sentar type character reminds of something Kenneth scott sketched . Ohh and nice glove Joe looks good .

-diameter 5 px
-hardness 100%
-spacing 1%

shape dynamics
-size jitter control: pen pressure

texture
use whatever texture scaled down to 5%
-check 'texture each tip', mode: overlay
-depth 50%
-minimum depth 70%
-depth jitter 15%, control: pen pressure

other dynamics
-control: pen pressure

check 'Noise'
uncheck 'Smoothing'

I use the pencil tool at 100% opacity.

What are these Red Tuscan Pencils you speak of?

The dye is made from the powdered shells of Red Tuscan beetles, which are extremely rare, so they're very expensive, but the magical qualities of the beetle allow you to draw smoother lines and get more originality. Or so I'm told.

hey tinman, you might want to look into this as well: Any drawing you do wtih a blue pencil will always look twice as good as if you did it with a normal pencil.

Just finished. Took about 3 hours. H, 4B, Soft White, and Dark Sepia on tinted paper.

From photo. Proportions may be a little off. Her feet could be better. First time trying this style. It was fun.

I've had an idea for a giant spider tank for so long, but the right concept stilleludes me. Thought this one was a neat start though.

dfacto: what if you had a four leg design that was arrayed in a "+" shape, with two legs on either side, one in the front and one in the back? You would have stability for firing a big gun as well as full walker capability.

Hmm, not a bad idea, but that would be a bit odd when walking. However, with a high turn angle per leg, it would be possible to achieve that configuration with a squarish body and some legwork. Not a bad idea, I'll think about that. Hopefully I will be able to draw out a full concept soon, but considering that I've been perpetually displeased with my designs so far, I wouldn't count on it. :P

dfacto and los...me likey. Dfacto I think the shape of the turret is letting the otherwise really cool design down. It needs more angles and shape changes, rather than the current half sphere imo

Anyways, here's some of my scruffles.

This one is actually quite old, just seemed like a good time to post it in a tragicomical sort of way
