Hey guys do you know of any good places to hit up with either tutorials/tips on drawing or coloring. I've got a tablet but I suck at both... even on paper... I need help!
good shit spacemonkey, clear connection to your dominance war general. be careful, or before you know it you'll have a bestiary of these gruesome sorts!
I wanna play!
Dusted this off and started working it again. Original was just a quick black and white sketch done for one of the daily sketch challenges at conceptart.org, "Retired Superhero". Done around the time The Incredibles was released (so when I say "dusted off" I mean dusted off) thus the blatant "influence" from the movie.
Ahhhhhhh how long has it been since I've had a good poop in my mouth? Too long I tells ya!
Here is another one. Basically I've been trying my hand at all out rendering, and while I like the progress I've made with characters, I need to push myself on environments and even objects, unfortunately I just slapped this guy down on top of a quick doodle of an environment and he just doesn't llook to be part of it, but oh well, had fun painting him and learned a few things.
And I'll throw this here too, since it is a sketch. About 5 mins with a 50% opacity brush.
Hooza yesh nutsy I missed your characters,
always very nicely volumetric and expressive,
and that landscape is also really nice. 5 minutes!!
As for making things fit into the environment, I think you're on top of most things considering ground plane and color, what's holding this one image back is the light source - it just looks like you rendered the guy and all, and then added the environment as a half-arsed after thought
You gotta take the lighting situation in the environment before you render the objects in them, you know
He's just way too "self-illuminated" to be standing there.
I'm sure you'll get to the bottom of this with some more pre-planned practice.
post more!!
Love it! but hate the feet and cant understnd what happening around its "mouth" area. Is that all once peice? It would make more sense if if could rotate at that point.
Makkon:
i think you're crazy dude.
1) your robots don't suck, so shut up. i even think the furry fox is cool, i think they are excellent drawings and concepts.
2) i think the painting is looking great and a very clean start, which is precisly what i'd want if i were working on a peice. it also reminds me of a prom work, and i like his works.
Revliss: Nice characters (especially that last one), but I must say, the legs are bugging me. It looks like most of them have their knee locked back and the foot further forward that it should be (illustrated below). This makes the character look unbalanced and like they are about to fall over. Don't get stuck into drawing the same leg position time and time again. Spice it up baby!
nurglezoid those are truly beautiful,
so "in there"..
gotta be your best work (unless i need to look again ,
i know how much you've been trying to..
dude your skillz are fine,
just DRAW, damnit, you lazy ass
great silouette character, i like his proportions. note your light source and give attention to the forshortening on your edges. i'd suggest using highlights on an edge if a light is behind a round form (shoulder pads).
been workin on bear model, but took a break to doodle and started this... will probably end up taking it to completed grayscale, possibly color digital painting.
feels good to draw with a pencil. and paint with adobe. been a while....
Weiser. Good stuff. The only thing I notice is the ground is not even, but that's an easy fix. You can stretch out the right leg using scaling. The rest of the design has a bit of "Spawn" feeling to it, but is tight. Finish it!
i still gotta watch that movie. haven't seen ice age 2 yet either. i'm such a hoser =(
and here's some more art from last thursdays drawing club. everyone bug poop and make him post his drawrings too
dorking around with different brushes in painter. i like some of the individual textures and stuff going on, but the whole thing together is a complete mess. but hey, pretty good for brush testing

ignore the fuzz
They do? I love them!
can't produce anything interesting. I think I screwed up this dude's proportions, he looks cartoony now.
my dominace war character got me thinking of idea's for a new character, some thoughts so far

Awesome stuff dude, can't wait to see more.

I think the perspective on the gun coming towards the screen looks a little wonky, but it is probably just me.
here's another bug-multi limb guy:
playing with some underlighting on this one (supposed to be a skeleton cyclops):
not sure what this one was about (yeah, I know the legs are too short)
.. and this is the infamous blunderbore from diablo 2.. loved the fact they used folks as clubs.
big 'ol chomp
Anyway...none of these go beyond the 2 hour mark
so "in there"..

Actually a failure of sorts I've been staring at this for a bit and it just doesn't work for me. Oh well good practice, I can always recycle the parts
Dont think i've participated in this thread before.. its about time!
creepy nurse sketch from memory.
