First try at a sketch with the drawing tablet, just came today and was trying to get a feel for it. Also being my first, I can look back on these and see how I've changed and improved.
"Skree!" Said the leech as he broke through a layer of clouds, soaring high above the city scapes in his magical hobo-car (tm).
As he soared, he pondered "What the hell am i doing up here?" and suddenly realized: it was his purpose. To be filler art! To be a creature that was drawn when nothing else was to be!
Such was born, THE FILLER LEECH!!! (tm)
Even though my modeling is not up to par for the Dominance War contest, I wanted to try & show my support for all you hard working peeps with your 1337 skillz
The diver woke up suddenly in this white, drole world after his plummet to death. Sitting up, he shrugged off the unbearable pain amassing in his joints. Pulling himself to his feet with a cracking noise, he glanced about. Nothing. Just white occupied this plain of existence. Was it heaven, was it hell? If this was truly the afterlife many sought, he thought that they must be terribly dissappointed when they get here. Not seeing anything, he took a few steps foward. Each footstep resounded throughout the dimension with a deafening echo. He kept walking onward, hoping to find something, anything. He and his shadow were the only things present. He stepped on into the unknown, blindly and with no sense of direction whatsoever. Beggining to tire and ache, he stopped and took another look around. Still his backround was white and unnapeasing. Growing more with his dull afterlife. Had he done something to end up here? It began to seem more like hell than any form of heaven with each passing moment. He stood and stared blankly into his white surroundings. The container on his back began to feel heavier. Beginning to sit down, he suddenly heard a slight humming. It echoed throughout his strange, blank enviroment until it grew into a deafening roar. The noise was directly overhead, muffled by his diving helmet. Gazing into the whiteness, he saw a rainbow. The sight was welcome, until he noticed what was at the end of the rainbow. A hand. It flew at him, and began to reach down....
pie, always try and use ref. right now it looks like it's been dipped in paint. either push it more in that direction by adding bump detail with shadows and stuff, or grap some ref and redo it. pay attention to how the surface interacts with the light and the surrounding environment. it's all about reflections on something like a light bulb. hope that helps
here's some warm ups for the comp over at hong ly's site, characterdesigns.com. they're giving away a psp and some gnomon dvd's. i'm hoping i get 3rd place, i'd rather have the dvd's, heh
Thanks man. I know what you mean about the beard thing, I have no idea how it actually attatches to what would be his face or anything of the sort, I just thought it looked neat and I wanted to be able to post something again. Perhaps sometime soon I'll come back to this guy and work out just what the hell sort of thing he is.

This was a new concept for the Dominanace War comp, but I think it's a bit too weird. Still, I do have a thing for unholy abominations...

I weird-ass dragon. I have been trying to develop a really stylized stroke for certain drawings.
a quick sketch of Neza
I just finished inking the outlines on a concept sketch yesterday, too. I'll scan it tomorrow and post it
*EDIT*
By the way, SouL... that's a really badass painting. I'm gonna have to brush up on mine pretty soon. Been awhile since I've done a human.
/em bows down.
Either that or a hag.
Thing.
here's my crap from the other night:
damn, i lost a lot of work on this beacuse i wasn't paying attention. i hate when that happens.
i have no idea..
anyways, here's some crap to lower the quality of the thread!
Here's the rough sketch:
And here's where I'm at on the painting:
And like...crits and comments and stuff, they'd be much appreciated as I'm very very new to this.
Other than adding a base, anyone have ways I could...you know, make it look better? Not as hot as I would've hoped it would turn out.
