Those are looking very nice sparks! At first glance i thought the geometry of the hands/blades on the first character was similar to the wrists of the last one, more like a claw rather than a sword in hand. Very cool.
..sometime soon I will get a few of my pencil drawings scanned at work and posted.
Hey guys, thanks for the kind words...here is something I did last night for the Sixfatninjas site. The theme was sci fi-ish, which I'm not to good at but was fun nonetheless. Gauss: love the sketch man, good stuff.
Poop: I want to see some of your work up in here:)
Well, I don't post here alot... so here is a sketch I cleaned up and went 'to town' on in Photoshop. Creature inspired by playing alot of the new DoomIII and QuakeIV.
And here we have it with a little bit of a story thrown in.
BTW, it's not yet finished. I havn't cleaned it up and 'polished' it to my liking. Add some different "Frazetta" colors to break the brown up a bit. Will do so when I get back to my computer from Xmas break.
The stitched troll thing looks like it has bone weapons coming out if his back. I was thinking it would be cool to have a monster that grows it's own weapons/tools hehe.
I've been working on a drawing for my bro for Christmas. been doing som character sketches:
was trying to get more comfotable with digital painting... Its frustrating getting the program to work like the real thing... got the idea of a lifebomb, a bomb that was droped so long ago the civilizations that sent it died off and its become dormant. The bomb ends up cultivating the life it was ment to destroy... yes i know, it woulda hit the ground.. its an artistic thought not logical.
awesome to see you posting, Nose, seems like it's been a while since we've seen your work around here! you know i don't think i've ever quite seen anyone with a line style like yours... there's a kind of classic comic vibe to it, it shows your roots--but at the same time the lines are very readable. not sure about those color renderings, though. i like the color choices but you realy seem to lose a lot of detail. have you ever considered approaching your concepts with flat tones, more of a design concept style? like this guy's work from Q4 it's fast, and more importantly it's super readable. i think it'd really work well with your linework. hope to see more work from you.

I'm attending these schools, and will be taking a Maya Class next Spring Semester. But I think it's more important to hone your drawing skills since computer software comes and goes
This is how I approach my drawings, all ballpoint pen and markers. So it's not a clean up, this how I draw. I can revert to a linear style, but I definitely have to learn how to render in color.
NoSeRider,
if you're looking to become better at painting, i have a suggestion, pencil rendering skills transition well into paint. i always say if you can draw, you can paint. you have displayed at times you can define shades well using line and suggestive values using markers alone, so it would be quite natural from the style you currently use if you were to pick up a pencil and explore the medium more with painting in mind.
Wow good stuff all around< I haven't drawn a lick on months... same part of my brain Iuse to sketch, I used to animate, and I've animated a lot, and almost forgotten how to draw. Good stuff.
Makkon-That 2nd one is definitely a helghast from Killzone right? I really like the way you exaggerated the character's detail and sort of left the gun just a constant darker shade. I love the lighting on his tubes though, I know its a semi-simple thing to do, but it really caught my eye!
i used the pencil brush settings in the previous posts, i know that for sketching im not very good but at least i try to compensate it at texturing lol :P
Can you post that brush for photoshop:cs1?
No matter how hard I try I can't get those brush settings.
I doubt youl find a bursh hosting site so please put it in a zip.
Kp I can see lots of subtle colour variations in there, did you paint it like that or did you go nuts with bright colours and then desaturate it? Just curious.

that happened rather naturally. when i had started i wanted the background color darker and burned it, so the backround had blacks and reds in it. i painted with the scattered leaf brush and softbrush at different transparencies, and would introduce colors that were slightly off in hue or value. near the end the sharpen introduced a lot of different colors. when i paint i sample colors from the painting about 80% of the time. at the end i turned up the contrast slightly.
