Heyo, thought I'd join in on item creation for Dota. Last time I did was participating in the Dota 2 competition. Now I were thinking of creating a complete set for the Lich. My idea being to go for an unholy-religious looking vestment for him.
And this is how the different parts are portioned out.
So far its only been blocked out, but I'd be moving on to sculpting out more details soonish. Any feedback would be appreciated
... That. Is. BRILLIANT!
Dude, I don't use the word "brilliant" often. That idea earned it.

I'm happy you liked the idea. When you finish the courier you can put my name in the workshop discription :P
I can't want to see how it will look though, cause when I saw the sculpts, the image instantly came to mind and I registered just to post it. Guess my lurkin' days are over.
So guys what do you think of the courier I'm working on? I'm trying to do something different than the cute courier, and make something that looks a bit more disgusting. I would love some critique, especially on the anatomy, even though it is not finished yet. I'm still blocking out the muscles and the overall body shape. Any critique would be appreciated!
Congrats to those who got items accepted this week! The past couple months I might've seen more quality sets than in the previous 6, hopefully valve continues the trend of adding more quality items to keep pace with the rate we're putting them out. :poly142:
You don't really even need that many to get accepted. An item will get in if VALVe appreciates it, regardless of votes. 5-10% is common on votes per view.
Edit: In fact, around 25% of my views came post-acceptance.
Hey guys, I'd like to learn the process for rigging and animating in dota 2 and was wondering if anyone has some really good resources that helped them with any part of the process. I also remember someone streamed their process but can't remember who that user was!? I'm studying animation but need to learn this process!
The thing I'm looking to find out is really just how to get my animation cycles into the game and working (as well as any rigging tutorials that are very relevant to dota 2)
Its because the thumb up thumb down voting system is black and white. Some items I can look at on the workshop and say.. Well I don't think this item is awesome.. but I don't hate it. It's not deserving of a thumb up or thumb down.... so I don't press anything.
They really need a better way.. like a 5 star system which makes it easier for people to rate on a scale rather than on a binary system.
I feel a bit of the same way about green light. I think the rationale is that if its not awesome enough to elicit your thumbs maybe it shouldn't take up valuable shop space - its valves MO I suppose..awesomeness must be agreed upon by a large community to be eligible to join the fold. I think it works less well here then in greenlight or employment opportunities however.
The Workshop is far from perfect, it does a good job of highlighting the most popular items but discourages looking anywhere other than Most Recent and Top Rated this week.
I've rarely seen bad items on the front page and good items entirely overlooked so it's doing a good job in that regard.
Also, for those doing stuff for him. They've changed some of his requirements. Lowed some poly limits but increased the texture sizes, so check your limits again!
Vlad: Looking great man! How did you manage to see the items in-game?
BrontoThunder/DashXero: Thanks! It'll be hard to make the glove, the tri count is too low in the requirements. The original one has 650 triangles and the custom can only have 400 in lod0.
Anuxi: Thaaaanks! Your enchantress is awesome too!
Mdk: The weapon is already finished. And the skirt is part of his body.
And the rest of them are looking really out of place not just in Dota 2, but even on the workshop with the designs being over the top and really unfitting. As one of my friends pointed out "i am slightly worried that these were 'designed' by professionals" and i couldn't agree more.

Oh god. Valve, I know they're your friends but, no, just no, don't even consider adding any of those to the game.
Those items look so bad it even hurts.

No sign of a monthyl chest though... Hmmm, either it will be ninja'd in to the main client patch or perhaps they're dropping the monthly format.
It looks like there's no chest/single items this week, so there's always next week, keep the hope alive!
I really hope they are still accepting single items though. Fingers crossed.
About time some new sets got in.
Just uploaded a new hook, crits welcome.
I know im not the only person whos driven nuts by this.
how often do they add items? is it a predictable cycle?
also: still no dark seer love!
*edit* i think all but one of those are from polycounters. Represent!
look mine xD, there are people with even more, maybe its because people dont easy see the upvote/downvote button xD
Holy crap... that's the most views I've seen on a single item.
Sweet zombie jesus, if only those were all upvotes.

Click and upvote this glorious greatness!

"Horns" finished, only the glove left!
This are the items i found in the schema. They may or may not be added.
That's what I said.
Grats!

Announcers were in the old chests too, one at a time or something like that. They just had a lower chance of dropping from the chest.
