@Paskie
Is... Is that a periscope?! That's awesome!
Thx! Tide takes what he pleases. A shiny keen engineered periscope. Also doing a torpedo to go with it. Salvaged submarine parts thingy. Just started with the texturing and it's only simple masks on it now.
Welcome 7thBattery! Digging your stuff at the workshop!
Little bit of progress on my Warlock buddy. Need to figure out what I'm doing with those hands.
Think I might drop the tail, too.
The way's he's looking right now he doesn't seem that threatening. But he could actually be a pretty badass warlock courier if you wanted to try another direction. He still looks cool though^^
I've been wanting to make a mount or courier or creature lately, but I completely forgot about the Warlock Golem.
A giant demon thing is totally my jam. Bronto, you've inspired me.
In case other people don't have a list of the current full replacement creature slots in their head, here's a list.
Batrider Bat

Kotl Mount
Disruptor Mount
Beastmaster Hawk
Beastmaster Boar
Lycan True Form
Lycan Wolves
Lone Druid True Form
Lone Druid Bear

huh, i wonder why you can't make treants for nature's prophet. there's a custom one ingame already.
MdK, I've always used Max, if you shift drag an edge it creates a new poly. It allows for a lot of control of edge flow and optimization for the low poly. I've never tried 3d coat or Topogun, and I hate using Maya to model.
@Uliss, HntrLuc
Thanks, guys. HntrLuc, that helm is cool! For some reason it kinda reminds me of elven gear from Lord of the Rings...
@BrontoThunder
I don't think there's a problem with him looking a bit smiley... As a matter of fact, you could probably get away with nicknaming him "Smiley". Things and people with perma-smiles are creepy and unsettling (like the happy mask merchant from Majora's Mask). For the hands, you could probably go with big, clumsy fingers. If you're gonna get rid of the tail, might I suggest a thong? That'll give 'em nightmares...
Damn this worshop has became to small place for this number of items, I man that it need some new way to show more items on first page. Big nuber of items never get seen by people.
Hi there guys, I was wondering the propper aproach to make the band details on this sword. Is it more efficient to add them to the base mesh in zbrush? or make them with the base mesh and then bring that to zbrush for detailing, or just texture work. This is an explanatory concept art

Well I'm not the best at zbrush, but I suppose a way you could do it was to mask the shape of the bands, inverse the mask, use deformation to make the bands bigger, and then add detail.
Another way would be to paint a mask on the blade and then do an extract, that gives you a separate subtool which you have a bit more freedom with than if you just pull the geo out of the blade subtool. (in Zbrush)
hey thx for the quick answeers!! ,the zbrush approach you guys recommend looks like the best. will experiment trough the direct texture work too to see what comes of it .
tnak you a lot!

Hey that's my model!
lol that was a bit surprising to scroll down onto :P
I modeled out quick bands and sculpted some details in zbrush for this one, but sculpting them right on with a clay brush or inverse masking and "inflating" them out from the rest of the mesh can work great too. Personally I wouldn't recommend just painting this type of stuff in texture since the ingame lighting and specular can really turn out lacking.
Here's my highpoly base for the model above if you're interested:
Beats - axe set came out great!
zaphk - great work on your tusk set, awesome illustration again

@Nikey
I like the silhouette of the weapon. If I had any crits about it, it would be that the nicks in the blades are very uniform on both sides. Almost regular.
Another week, another Dota item. Seriously though, it took me like 4 8-hour days to make this. I need to increase my pace. Vlad would have lapped me 3 times and all 3 would have gotten in.
I hope I don't wake up sober tomorrow and realize this is terrible.

Not sure if that was a compliment
Anyway, i think that if you blow out the barrels end it'll look way better. Kinda like his original weapon. Yeah, i think increasing the barrel size will only help in differentiating from the other guns and will add to the look.
And also, your screen are proving the point i raised about adding the testmap. While it's a great addition, somehow everyone still tries to get the closest possible shot which is redundant because we've got loadout preview. I'd suggest you post the most ordinary camera angle screenshot, i guess the scale issue will be clearer there.
The lenses could use some self-illum too, they'll be clearer in the portrait view
Speed should not be a factor, Frump. How quick you can make something comes naturally with repetition and consistency. Focus on the craft, the technique -- make mistakes, try new things and take as long as it takes for you to make something you're proud of. Speed does not dictate the quality of the artist.
That being said, looks great! I'd suggest making the gold/brass more closely resemble his eyepiece, same with the lenses.
@Frump
I'm inclined to agree with BrontoThunder. The speed will come in due time. Just work on getting it right. That being said, I really like that gun! The yellow on it kinda looks plasticky though...
@Nikey
The new sword is improved over the old one, but for some odd reason, I like the middle of the old blade a little more than the middle of the new one.

hawkseye - nice skywrath staff!
I finished and uploaded my skywrath headslot today
Think I might drop the tail, too.

Demons have feelings too!!!1

wip elder titan concept
It seems as if your warlock doesn't have a butt at all, it seems rigid, and weird. Also what others said about the not threatening situation.
Chucky had no ass and wasn't threatening... he didn't do so bad.

Dude, your set made me like Axe.
@HawtKoffee
I like what you've got so far! Can't wait to see how it will turn out.

@Zaphk
*Whistles* Impressive!
Polypainted the rat...
I tried painting my own gradient in this time... Eeeegh... I also tried trusting the old gut a bit more when it came to color selection.
I also think I've come up with a name for this courier:
"Rufentumbl the Red"
I guess retop is next...
Yes please. So much win in this one =D

I agree, except I think the addition of the cloth wrap was a nice touch.
