The trailer was badass, but I won't get too hyped until I see gameplay, hopefully they won't act like the Bioshock team did, hyping the game up to be something we've never seen before, when they're actually making a dumbed down rehash of a classic.
Just give me a good story, a nice upgrade system like the original, and solid action gameplay instead of the incredibly stiff feeling controls found in most action-RPGs and I'll be satsified. Also if they don't dumb it down for the console folks like they did with Invisible War (can't believe I played all the way thru that shitty sequel, or that it got decent reviews).
Need to see the gameplay and the depth of the story. Part of what Deus Ex for me was just how deep the rabbit holes could go with the conspiracy theories. And it had a long plot that built up.
I dont want 10 hours of game play (or even worse the 5-6 some try to get away with these days). I want 20 - 30.
yea i was thinking the same about the actual art-direction of the game. it looks like a lot of things mixed together but nothing really cohesive. it might just sum up to being itself as the dx3 style once the game is seen as a whole
interesting game point of view.
great graphic !!, well planned living-breathing environment.
btw some NPC need some polish! >.<
obvious mirrored texture on the bald guy is little bit turn off for me.
NPC eye ball track seems not perfected yet ...
but i love the big picture view for npc animation when they talk
very expressive, unlike close up lip conversation like other game,
that looks awesome. really interesting looking environments and the rpg/fps gameplay looks right up my alley. yea the eye tracking was weird and facial animation stiff but thats usually some of the last stuff to be polished, so hopfully it gets tightened up.
From what I've read you only go into third person while in cover, a concession made in favor of being able to see the enemies you're hiding from/shooting at.
not sure about those stealth kills.. might make the game too easy, as it does in many other games. Hopefully getting the ability to do such kills takes time and effort. Other than that it looks pretty fun, albeit a bit more scripted than the other ones.. might just feel that way because of the cutscenes though
Yea I hope the cutscenes aren't too much. What bothered me was the camera movement after he crawled in the vent and spied on them. It should have kept his POV and he just hears. Broke the whole experience. Would have made it easier for them as well because at least one of the characters was facing away from him so they wouldn't have to worry about much facial expression.
Gotta agree with Glynn, second video was much better. The streets in the first video seemed very sparsely populated, despite the commentary about the 'living, breathing environment'. Hopefully they'll tweak this before launch. Also, hexagon decor in the nightclub? C'mon guys, we all know that hexagons equal The Future, but seriously....
I thought the dialogue seemed quite dull and clich
I'd hazard that the flourish of hexagons in the club weren't merely to show it's in the future, but that the club is called "The Hive", with the honeycomb and all that

Always sounds better in Japanese. The only thing I'm not sure about is the damsel in distress thing...
The 2x gunz-shooting chick was totally hot tho
Wow, they just keep making this look better and better. I'm completely ignorant of the other two, but I'm hoping there's a lot of action in this one as opposed to stealth, and the like. I know, you can't really find action games with good stories, and engaging characters too often, and if the game HAS those two elements, most of the time, it's probably boring as shit, but I still got high hopes for this.
If it's a proper Deus Ex game you should have the option to either stealth it up or go in guns a-blazing. I think you probably won't have any worries about there not being enough action in this one. Other options though are far less certain at this point.
I saw a live playthough on a very big screen at eurogamer expo on friday, It looks fucking gorgeous! It was pretty much what I had seen in trailers before, plus a bit. One thing that bothered me though, pretty much every interaction with a guard was this cutscene style finishing move, making it seem like all you have to do is get behind someone and press a button to initiate an instant kill scripted sequence. I'm sure it was down to something like AI not being finished yet or whatever.
The other thing was the black shadows surrounding meshes, exactly like the post processing ambient occlusion in UDK - I just thought they looked a little daft at times. I met the Art Director afterwards, but wasn't quite prepared and my mind went blank! I babbled incoherently about the 'black thingys around the models' and that I couldn't 'remember what they where called in UDK'.
him: 'the contact shadows around objects?'
me: 'YEAH! ...I think they look rubbish.'
...
I left pretty quickly
the top image is of Noomi Rapace from "the girl who played with fire" movie. pretty kick ass, they look like they punked her up for the final movie too, massive mohawk and shit. apparently she has also been cast in the new Ridley Scott alien prequel.

It's called SSAO. (Screen Space Ambient Occlusion) and all games use it nowadays, it's a very cheap screen filter, but bound to have some artifacts.
Yeah I remembered it was called SSAO on the train home :P
It stuck out for me because of one scene where the player is in a room with metal shelves and every object on the shelf has this ridiculous black halo around it. I'm sure it will be toned down for places like that!
never got around to playing Dues Ex, should give 1 and 2 a go since 3 is looking pretty sweet, but who knows what real game play is like so you never know. Then again its also supose to be a prequel.

fairly interesting read comparing the trailer to other cyberpunk movies

cant wait for this game.
I'm not entirely sure I want to be in 3rd person all that much, especially when in cover, but I'm feel positive about everything else.
Gorgeous execution of art.

long and wordy, but an interesting read

It holds up pretty damn well. Fantastic game, I really like the universe and stuff. Definitely looking forward to Human Revolution now!:)

I love how intricate the world design looks, its very elaborated. If the interactivity is done right this will serve many hours of exploration.
