@ jeebs: Don't know much about characters so I can't be of much help, but she looks so cool. Love the undead/zombie type face features and the curvy, ragged skirt!
I read that the environment art test from ArenaNet was canceled, but I figure it's good practice just to get it finished anyway. Here's where I stand with the diffuse all set up.
I haven't done vegetation in previous projects, so if anybody knows of a few good tutorials on how to approach that, I'd appreciate it.
Hey guys, I've been finishing up my jukebox's lowpoly and started working on my bumpercar's textures. Here's how the jukebox turned out and a screenshot of my bumpercar's untextured lowpoly.
@SirCalalot: Made some geometric shape brushes for that last painting, a lot of the texture is from flattening the image and then extreme free transform squashing/stretching. I use the trad miranda brush set quite a lot. Also funky animation, what software you making the 2D platformer in??
Cheers!
I'll have a bash at that myself
The platformer is being done in Unity but with completely 2D assets.
I'll post up the progress when the main characters are sorted.
Keep on blitzing this thread everyone!
It's good to see more concept art being posted again.
hi there, this is my first post in this thread. just wanted to share what I'm working on. would be nice to hear some crits .
That's looking great man. I would start a thread for that, I think it deserves one, especially if you're going to finish it with a low-poly and textures. Also if you want crits, that would be the place for it.
Monitor doodle for an environment I'm starting up. Going to take this monitor all the way through to establish the master material and overall look i'm going for.
Haven't done much personal art in a while, but I busted this out at work today.
Speed sculpt from a 3DS MAX teapot primitive as my basemesh (no retopo or dynamesh). Mad props go out to daphz for hooking me up with the teapot mesh.
Started out as a warm up and wanted to do a stylised cabbie, but everyone kept saying it looked like Super Mario. So I think that's where I'll take it.

Evening 2 of this model... I think I may be practically done for what I want it for. gonna do UV's real quick. No need for grime and dirt for this project.

Any critiques and suggestions welcome!
Random, unrelated sketches.
It takes the following things:
diffuse (doh)
opacity in alpha
normal map
spec/envmask in alpha
phongexponenttexture (gloss) map:
r: gloss
g: phongalbedotint mask (makes specular pull colour from diffuse)
b: unused
alpha: rimlight mask
And you can tweak fresnel ranges etc intuitively with a .vmt file so it's pretty good
Nearing done with the highpoly:

slowly trying to bring my showdown entry to a close
HOLY MOTHER OF JESUS! This is so cool, man
Ho! I like it
