Hi Guys,
A ton of amazing work from everyone as usual! I recently applied to join the WOW team at Blizzard, after a test and interview I found out today that I was unsuccessful as they needed someone with stronger 2D and concept work. It was an awesome opportunity and I was very humbled to even get an interview. Looks like I'll be focusing on my 2D from now on!
Just wanted to share what I produced for the test.
@Arthur Ramazanov- that is pretty sweet looking @michael milano- that is a nice alien bust, are those textures in Max? If so, how did you manage that, I thought decimation got rid of the UVs
Hello, I'm new here, and pretty much lost. I want to be an environmental artist. I like hard surface modeling, and doing things like landscape and terrain. But, I have no idea, what to do after I graduate college (I graduate in a year). And just need some help and pushing in the right direction. My portfolio site is: www.joshuaburtsportfolio.com (I haven't updated my resume in a year or so, so be gentle there.) But I just need some direction. I'm currently working on a castle environment in UDK, I'll post screen shots when I'm home. But I'd really appreciate any help any of you guys would be willing to give me.
I'm also not sure where I'd rate myself on any form of a skill level (from noob to pro) I don't really consider myself a noob (I find myself helping out a lot in school and they at least consider me knowledgeable.) But I know I am not a close to professional.
quick sketching some Torchlight 2 custom weapon mod ideas. Will need to tone the fist weapons down some and simplify them so they fit in the game, they're too busy. Elf-y one isn't as much, but could use some simplification.
Did a polish pass on my fantasy alley based on crits I received (thanks guys!). Feel free to leave me some C&C love in my sketchbook, I may revisit it again in the near future
While I'm posting this now, this map actually dates back to about 2 years ago. Originally created as a flashback for Chell's Legend, I have decided to just finish it as an art piece. Not sure if I can do anything to make it valid for gameplay, or if I'd ever have the time to work on it again. Still though, love walking through it and using my "imagination" to fill in the gaps.
feel free to critique, anything is welcome really (made in Source)
@lonewolf, oh wow the style is pretty much kitbashing parts all over the place ( and it works) I tend to overthink stuff whenever designing something like that ...
Panels, that is all. (Note: there is no turbosmooth going on for now)
Anyway, gonna throw this stuff into UDK eventually and make a futuristic and somewhat industrial hallway. Would like some crits on the general feel of it I guess, too much paneling/too much random/not enough detailing/stuff like that.
he has to tape his boobs down because only boys are allowed to fly?
i know i know, metrosexual sexual guys of the modern time like you dudes prefer the emo/undercut/justin bieber type of boy. But we wanted to keep some of the retro design parts we developed earlier. So i'm sorry we can't fullfill everyones wishes :poly122:
MisterNinjustu, thanks Thanks spiderDude, I had some other questions about how to get UVs on a decimated model, so I made a video tutorial. Hope it helps, let me know if you have any questions.
Took a break from 3D and messed around with the program Alchemy. It's really really fun to mess around with for those of you who haven't tried it. and yes, I am still an Environment Artist =P
