I realy like this piece reminds me of those concept drawings you see on art books, mostly you see them in Japanese art concepts. There's one thing though, just the door bugs me a bit - looks a bit detached? But other than that- it looks vey inspiring.
I need some advice, i have been modelling some guns in Softimage XSI for about 4 years now. This deagle is the best i can do. The problem is - i'm stuck with it, i cant go forward and start to make some cool stuff like NOT-guns, and i think the problem is the Softimage. No, of course it can be used for creating that cool stuff what you guys doing here, but there is no much tutorials out there, i dunno...
Maybe i need to switch to another Model building program? Blender, maya, 3dsmax (i really dont like 3ds max for some reason...). Help me with your expirience.
Rather pleased with how the car has created, there are a few areas which need quite a bit of cleaning up (sidepods for example). Some strange reason all my textures for the car disappeared, but the old textures were just mostly a test.
There is a gap just under the front wing end plate (where the three fins are), it does seem like there's like a platform but it is how the lighting is.

Blender is a good program too use, however for me it kills your right mouse button clicking finger (selecting objects, edges, faces ...etc). Blender from what I have used has some great features.
Maya personally I prefer it for modeling. Also I like Maya due to able to create your own shelf !! (basically a row of things your use the most such as Cube, Cylinder, Freeze Transformations, Center Pivot), such a amazing simple feature.
3Ds Max at the moment I am learning it to model low polygon objects, however for me I'm not too keen on 3Ds Max ... but I hopefully will get there an able to use it.
Really like the idea, looks like some sort of concept. But, you can improve this alot. That lensflare.. it stands out way too much, go for subtlety. And the wall looks alot out of the wall, which is bad. The bed looks "blocking-ish". The dresser/bedside table looks strange too, almost like the texture was all made of a picture, doesn't fit the overall quality.
This is my version of Cthulhu that I've been working on as a personal project. The base mesh was built in Max and then sculpted and textured in Mudbox. I then Decimated it in Zbrush and brought it back into Max to skin and pose. It's rendered in Vray.
I've had a thread running here: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=92881 but I'd love some more feedback.
I added the Triceratops mantle to add a bit of prehistoric majesty. I made the wings reasonably large as smaller, rudimentary wings just diminished his size.
I'm planning to make a base for him and try and get it made into a 3D print if there's interest.
@ Swizzle : Dante is looking awesome. Not sure if I mentioned it before but thanks for allowing us to download your arts for examinations, I am gonna learn a bunch from you so thanks.
x-post. Had to wait till lunchtime to post this up.
Started busting out some clothes for her. leftover puffy vest enthusiasm. trying to understand cloth a bit better. Just started but not too happy with the legs yet so I will probably start again, a few times.
One thing that jumps out at me initially though is how the ceiling is lit.
For the most part, there shouldn't be any direct light hitting the surface due to the lamps being angled directly down.
The only real illumination the ceiling would receive is just mainly bounce light reflected off the floor.
With that in mind, the lighting on the floor would probably look better as being more intense with a softer falloff, while the ceiling would be a lot darker in tone by comparison.
@Duncan, gorgeous strong pose. Love it Can't wait to see it textured and all !
So some more work on my crytek art test environment piece
*snip*
Great to ser people tacling this art test. Did it a while ago, like 6 month. This is my take on the chair, never did the sofa. Not as trashy as yours. Very cool
Hey! Here's an update on the dota courier ive been working on.
Lowpoly done-ish and first test bake.
Around 3800 tris (bit over budget for now) with a 512 texture.
HntrLuc: That looks great! Can't wait to see it textured.
Doing some UDK fiddling. Making a tower ruin that will be turned in to a cosy post apocalyptic hideout once it's done.
Just building the foundation right now, still some temp-assets.
Duncan- awesome, her face looks like Scarlett Johansson kinda, in a good way of course
HntrLuc- Badass man!! Bake looks great. Only comment I have is that the dark line on e inside of the goggles really make it feel low poly, while nothing else gives that impression. If it's for style that's coolio, but right now it just stands out IMO.

@Alkogolik - that head is sick!? what is the triscount? i love the topology!!
So Im slowly getting done with the concept. cant wait to get to modelling her! input is welcome! cheers guys
Oh man, I really like that! My only crit would be that I don't like the ceiling texture. It looks like a drop ceiling from an office building. Something stylish up there would really set this off nicely...
I might also suggest making the floor more of a solid color like a blue rug or something. It's a little busy for my eyes and something solid would be a little more luxurious AND set off the nice wood pieces that are touching it.

I agree with ya, I didn't like my choice in the ceiling, but given the time I had, I needed to choose a tile that would somewhat match the scheme and mood quickly. If I had more time, I definitely would have done larger intricate murals for the ceiling.
I agree with some variation with the floor as well, it would have really been nice to make use of some reflective shaders in this case. Thanks for the crits

Going to spend this weekend beating on ZBrush Dynamesh booleans to see if I understand the workflow for hard surface stuff.
First one:
Has some issues like faceting in places that exists because I didn't know what I was doing when GoZ'ing from Modo. But I think I've got that handled now so the next piece will look better!

First cartoony character that I ever made. I'm currently working on a proper rig.
I've seen really cool stuff here, keep up the good work all!

Lot of amazing work on here!

The deadline was 1 week, and the style included 100% hand painting diffuse only, no specular or normal maps.

This time I used a number of references, specific references for specific parts. This one took a lot longer than they usually do because of this.
I'm still trying to add colors on this but I'm a bit stuck. Anyway if anyone have suggestions or feedback that's welcome!
Thx !
i love this!
Heres a little something.
