Little cross post from my thread for the mixamo contest,
looking for some C&C
high resolution getting close to completion, still have some stuff to do.
It's suppose to be a VTOL with huge engines on the side that rotate...and I sort of forgot that little detail....you know...the thing that actually makes it a VTOL :x
swizz: good use of texture, would have been cool if you added a little more highlights
I'm trying to replicate some of the style of the Dota 2 comic, so I've actually avoided doing highlights that are too strong. I think the shader would benefit from a slightly lighter diffuse, though. That's something to keep in mind for the final piece. The intent is to make the short, fat character from the comic. Coincidentally, the same one that Daphz is doing.
I've hardened the transition to shadow and accentuated the lines that are meant to outline the main features. I've also tweaked the faked fill/bounce/whatever to simulate a bit of what you can see in the comic with the shadows getting lightened as they move away from the terminator. I also thinned out the post process outlines because I felt they were too heavy.
I think I'll post a breakdown of the whole setup soon; I'm feeling like this shader is about as good as it's going to get.
Here's an update on my scene. I finally got round to making a video of it. Couple of issues thouh, a) youtube seems to have changed the gamma a bit, and the scene is already dark so screen brightness may help if it's too dark to see. (looks fine on my screen).
still way far from done, but progress is progress
there is far to many skilled artists on here i cannot believe the quality of work.
that roger is amazing :P
Another monster sculpt in the works... I will eventually finish up both this one and the previous fat belly demon model... eventually... Dynamesh rocks. Best thing ever.
Toying with the idea of my own take on the 7 deadly sins type thing. Less typing more sculpting!
Lots of wicked stuff going on in this thread as per polycounts usual awesomeness.
This is an iPhone 4 case I've been working on for a while, finally ordered a 3D print from www.Shapeways.com last Friday, so in a couple weeks I'll have a real case. Only about 95% confident that the case will actually be able to sit a phone inside it, and also not break during use - but I'll see how it turns out. If everything turns out ok then I am planning to sell these, if anyone is interested
Looks like I need your help again, guys.
I wanted to work on a new female that is at least soooomehow accurate. As you can see, itยดs an early wip.
The lower legs just donยดt look right to me, but I cannot figure out what the problem is.
daphz: he's looking amazing stefanobernardi: love that painting, and really nice job modeling it, the metal came out great! Fred2303: loving the new model, that's some crazy detail work there!

Any hint would be awesome!
The calves seems to start too early just below and outside the knees. The transition from calf to ankles are also too large. Depends, do you want cankles?
The knees could be a smidgen higher. The femur is much longer than the tibia/fibula on your model. In some cases that is true. I also suggest to curl the toes starting from the middle toe to the pinky toe. Good luck.
I love coming on here and seeing how busy people are. It really keeps me on track. Woke up and felt like doing a low poly Monkey King. Going to Unwrap and Texture later tonight.
Another cross-post. Lighting changed a whole lot with other minor tweaks. Probably moving onto something else for a break before doing the outside and the vehicle.
I played around a bit with Maya Vector. Man, that's some grumpy old tech. Lighting acts weird as hell if you try to have more than one light source, and it seems to only work with point lights. So weird.
finished this up. did some small tweaks to the diffuse.. realized it didnt tile at all due to some details i overlooked. pretty happy with it. moving on.
Great stuff in here guys, really dig all the work!
Here is an update on the Dota 2 Merchant thread, I would love to hear some C&C from all you wonderful artists.

(too big for vimeo, file is 670mb, can't find how to embed youtube vids on Polycount )
Also, since i'm using virtualdub, i can't find any option to fade the video/audio at the start and end anyone know if this is possible in virtualdub?

Haha, this made me laugh but seriously....you're going to have to make about 5 different costumes for him before I let you call this done.

note to self, make library of bling
You should consider putting them on Cafepress or something as posters, or even shirts, as a sort of supplemental income.

Daphz : Man, this speedsculpt serie you are doing right now is really inspiring.
Oniram : This is really polished, like this piece. It's simple, but well done.
Wesley : Can't wait to see it finished. Great amount of detail you've got there, and you nailed the mood.
