Hey guys, first time posting here, I've been a long time lurker
Here's something old I've been working on in-between school assignments that I've decided to finish now on my spare time. The first pic is currently where I'm at and below are some thumbnail designs of her that I'm considering.
Comments and critique is highly welcome !
jmiles: That's looking very nice ! I kinda agree with Dan about the texture contrast but it's looking pretty sweet nevertheless
DDuckworth: The scene is looking fairly empty right now so I'd definitely throw in some trees to populate the scene a bit !
Had to take a break from texturing.Wiping the dust off of a deprived sculpt instead.Slowly refining it with hopes to get this game compatible eventually.
Allen-p - Id turn down your sss a bit, he looks like candle wax at the moment:) Id suggest how... but Ive never played with sss, its still on my to do list:)
Finished this blah up:) Redid the base today... ready for something new.
Rendered in Marmoset:
yeah exactly, its not really a scene from the comic, but one from his initial artworks
Yeah i remember the picture! Thats awesome I am excited to see it all finished!
Started high polyness, just a quick render to show where i'm at. The concept feels a lot more detailed than my model and I dont know why!I plan to add other little details with floating geo so maybe thats it, I dont know! The cylindrical middle bits will be transparent with some stuff inside!
I want to make him hover with more difficulty, it looks to easy I think.
It's hard to watch because it starts out so quickly and ends before I can full screen it, seems like with wings like that he would just jump, have a slightly longer hangtime than usual, then land again. But from what I can see it looks pretty good

Thanx DDuckworth, yeah, I think Ill redo some of the animation on a later stage. It would be impossible for him to hover like that.
Hello. i don't chat on here much, but i wanted to share some of my work. it probably isn't as good as some of the work you guys do, but ill just show it anyways.
i released a level for killing floor awhile ago. it has several custom textures and models.

i saw that concept a while ago on cghub and it totally inspired me to start a little project ive been spending the odd hour on every 2 or 3 days.
so far im 4 1/2 hours into the 8 hours i set myself as a time limit. shouldve spent more time on the initial blockout and i need to make proper lightmap UVs and then start texturing it.
First lighting pass for my new scene with my tractor. Still gonna add some firefly/bug particles around the lights and still not totally happy with the lights or some of the placement of the grass.
Hey dudes, thanks for the comments for the Huante Pirate. I think someone wanted to see a close up, so here goes...
I'll work on his feet, I was going for an awkward pigeon-footed pirate, but maybe he's ending up toooo awkward? There's so much great work here and this thread gets filled up so quickly!!!
Sooo inspired from everyone here so I started working on another model! One of my favorite artist is Sean Cheeks and so I chose El Capitan Americanoooo from his works. Hope you guys dig it!

Great job Ceebee!!!
love this!!!! sense of weight and style is great, you really captured it well.
first time using the offset filter in ps, its funny I was bitching so much about a wrapmode plugin for photoshop because the tutorial I watched all looked difficult, but when I finally just tried it, its about as easy as anything gets.
Any suggestions besides the obvious (make wood pieces continue over the seam.)

awww yours looks awesome man! I hope mine will be as good! I like that you put a time limit on yourself. I maybe need to start doing that!

Some things you may want to try:
- clearly define the borders of the wood. Yours looks very splintered at the edges.
- Don't stress the detail pass so much. There's too much going on.
- Use deep and dark colors for the spaces inbetween the planks themselves.
- When you're happy with it, make some variations of the same tile and assign them randomly to the mesh.
- Decals!
Any suggestions besides the obvious (make wood pieces continue over the seam.)
Make the boards longer and run parallel. The boards that run vertical are very distracting and really breakup the tile effect. Work a bit on the highlights and shadows and you'll be golden!

Reminds me of that Rammstein video where Till wired a lightbulb through his cheek into his mouth.
Stinger:
Is that a real barcode? my phone cant read it.

New Version looks much better. I'm no expert on swords but doesn't the fuller usually run the length of the blade.

Looking forward to seeing that turned into a sculpt!
3D print, I 2nd this notion.
but as a concept it looks great, looking forward to seeing this 3D
Sculpted, models and baked the textures for this. Going to make a sort of fantasy low spec environment that uses normal maps.
These guys will by running alongside of the path I will be making.
Was thinking of making a sort of ancient temple ruins of some sort.
First stab at sculpting a face with the aim of really trying to follow skeletal and muscular landmarks.
crits and comments welcome.
Just door learning texture drawing.
As always, C&C always welcomed!

Suggestive wise just work on your hand painting, go find a style you like, try to imitate it, then figure out your own variant

HUGE texel disparity in your unwrap, look at the pixelation on the collar compared to the face. I like the design though.
