Alright 2011 edition!
Ok for the first day of this year I just did a self portrait digital sketch cus it's been a while I haven't done any digital sketching (well the main purpose was actually to replace my only-god-knows-how-long previous profile picture in facebook lol) and cus the result not that terrible thought I'm gonna show it to the professionals here too hehe..
Something i've been doing on and off for quite a while now but its time i got it finished. Not aiming for a low poly right now just as detailed a model as possible for my portfolio. Such a high tri count right now mainly due to the wheels.
(Also had a quick play around with the vray demo ) Any crits at all would be grand. Still very much WIP!
@Skillmister
Oh wow your stuff also looks great, texture please!
Well cus you're saying not gonna make a low poly, can't say much about it..wait, does it really don't have a wiper on the front windshield? and also the area above the 4 front wheels is empty, you better put something in there, otherwise it looks floating..

Should have said its not finished yet but im just getting stuck in with it Made more progress in the last few days than i had in several weeks! I may well make a low poly eventually but ive got quite a few things i want to get done in the near future first.
The underside is extremely busy so that will take a long time and it does have wipers don't worry1
Hello WAYWO! I posted in the last thread during my moderated probation, but my work got lost in the shuffle. I'm looking forward to some crit.
I'm looking for work for the first time in 3 years so I'm working on a couple new portfolio pieces including environments and characters.

And here's the WIP of my rat/weasel-man character:
I'm trying to learn some ways to make convincing fur for him. It's intended to be game resolution friendly, as the base model is under 8000 tris.
Calling this done now since deadline is tomorrow and I am sick atm.
Next in the menu is writing a tutorial series for my workflow though the entire project, meshing, texture creation etc.
Great start on the thread, happy new year everyone!
plugging away at something ancient. I think I've revisited this thing 10 times by now. Hands and feet need some work then I need to figure out how to get a head onto it, never had much luck with projections.
This is the first model I've done in maya or any 3d program. I actually did this a few months ago, but I'm debating if I should texture/fix it up a bit. What do you guys think?
Well I have been thinking of making myself a Samus (low poly?) so I went ahead and drew some plans up for it, also to think of her suit modularity a la Super Metroid
Max Screen Grab of a scene that I am working on. This will end up being put into udk to be lit and some effects added. This is my first "hand painted" environment and I know there is definitely going to be a lot to learn and improve on. Thats why I was urged to try a scene in this style.
I have decided that my portfolio is a bit of a sausage fest so I intend to soften it up a bit. here are all of the wips I was going to post but never got around to. This is a big post sorry .
first Sculptris sculpt:
Rough concept:
Into Z-Brush
Some extra business:
Where I am so far: I am going to add a few extra bits and pieces, Then I can get back into sculpting
The simple view:
Thanks everyone. I am looking froward to seeing what goodies this thread will bring in the new year.
Awesome, reminds alot of one of the Ashlands in Darksiders - just started playing it recently, and the first thing i thought of was the ashlands in Darksiders
@Razorb, great sketches. Really digging number 3+4! @Scooby, the narrower jaw version looks like megan fox?
Made a bit more progress on the front, added the rest of the lights and wipers. Need to collapse the symmetry on the grill thing and remove the left hand hole as its only meant to have one.
Now to work on the incredibly complicated underside
Oh and if anyone has any pointers for rendering progress images that would be grand, i'm useless at renders.
Still working on this, with the holidays over I finally have some time to continue this guy.
Decided on a new outfit (again), did some hard surface modelling, and am kinda figuring out how I want to do the hoodie/vest, base shouldn't prove much of a problem, the hood on the other hand might.
A cookie for the person to guess the brand of the headphones, might be easier with the paintover I posted, showing where I want to take this.
and the paintover :
Not the best sketch, but pressure sensitivity not working in CS5 for some reason

This is what I am working on currently. Low and high polys are done. About to texture soon.
Happy New Year, PC.

Here is a concept of a futuristic (20-30 years from now) UN Urban conflict APC that i've been working on today.

Thanks! I tried that and it only gives the link... it usually works, but not in this thread it seems?
Damn, I need a job this year.
I've finally found some time to work on texturing ma' bridge. Clearly its still very WIP. Hopefully I'll get this done sometime soon!

@Swizzle: That guy is ace as. I really dig the fabric work. Looks nice and flowy.
@Razorb: Awesome work I dig the big little monster and the environment piece.
@crazyfool: Looking good as always man. The hips could do with a little extra plump but I like where it is headed.
@daphz: That looks killer. Great work.
