Rooster: That would be fine if the texel disparity was around the back, but it's right underneath the 'focal point' as you put it, and it's immediately noticeable.
Hey guys, first time posting here, I've been a long time lurker
Here's something old I've been working on in-between school assignments that I've decided to finish now on my spare time. The first pic is currently where I'm at and below are some thumbnail designs of her that I'm considering.
Comments and critique is highly welcome !
jmiles: That's looking very nice ! I kinda agree with Dan about the texture contrast but it's looking pretty sweet nevertheless
DDuckworth: The scene is looking fairly empty right now so I'd definitely throw in some trees to populate the scene a bit !
2 pages later my post was verified I hope nobody minds if I quote the original post to bring it to attention because I could use some feedback !
Gingerookie: Wow, you pretty much nailed the concept, it's looking great ^^ Once the shield is decorated he's going to be even more awesome
Blvdnights: Nice scene ! What does it look like with a darker background fog and a more subtle blue light ? I think toning them down would give the scene more atmosphere And perhaps raising the radius and brightness on the lamp lights instead
here a little update on the killercroc thing.
I know the details are very random and not natural, worked to fast and without alphas..
anyway, hope its looks "ok".
And now back to work!
Blvdnights: Sweet scene, I think I remember seeing your tractor before and it looks great. It just seems really dark, could be my monitor at work but it would be nice to see more bounced light from the lamps.
Gingerookie: Cheeks, love his style and you nailed it!
blitz: omg, you're crazy! Looks pretty sweet to me
A little something I put together recently. Cross posting from my digital sketchbook thread, so C&C there if you'd like.
heres a quick doodle I did this morning of a Dark Prince Im working on, Its getting there, wanna pull him around alot still but I might get some armour in before that.
First lighting pass for my new scene with my tractor. Still gonna add some firefly/bug particles around the lights and still not totally happy with the lights or some of the placement of the grass.
As always, C&C always welcomed!
I unfortunately I dont have any critique... Just can say that I love it!
I decided to make a quick eye study in Silo (still learning everything)... So here it goes:
Of course any critique is also welcome... Although my Silo version expired and I cant save models so this one is a goner! But its good to delete and start over...
Sephez - awesome stuff, I love the stylisation and the texture work is great. Nice variants too - I like the design you have right now, but you could incorporate the bracelets and other accessories from the concepts to make it more visually interesting.
eY3lEs5 - looking great. I think the bricks are disproportionally large though. you have just over 20 rows of bricks in that wall. I went and counted the bricks in the wall of my house (...I have spare time.. haha) and there were at least 35 rows floor to ceiling.
wake - epic. is it me or is his right leg longer than his left? considering the extension of the foot.
crazyfool - looking awesome! I love the smirk on his face. this guy really has character. the colouring is simple but seems to make a really bold statement.
Mr.Wednesday - nice but I think the shape is off, it looks too flat and regular. Also defining where the eyebrow is might help!
maybe you could try to make real particle hair - are you going to animate her?
it seems to me that her arms are to long or her upper part of the body is to short.
Can you post some wires expecially for the clothing and some different views? (how does the bag look like?)
ah by the way make sure to not post pictures of her without clothes (even if these pictures are wire pictures) some special Users in Polycount could understand it wrong
and will say malicious things.
the colors are good and making it uniqe because it matches perfectly with the color of her skin.
only the overpaintings of the different clothes are not so good because these colors are not corresponding enough with her skin.

THE SEASONAL COLOR ANALYSIS
I found this link where there is a color palette of the differnt types.
the glasses or the bow is good if you want that the viewer pays more attention to her face and her mimics.
everything else that is movable could distract the viewer from the message you want to give away.
I took a break from my texturing-learning and figuring out how to get things into Source a few days ago to begin working on this. It's a Warhammer 40K Kroot rifle. I've changed the design a bit where I wanted to add more details, and where I thought certain things on the plastic figurine didn't make much sense (For example, the charge-loading hatch thing. On the figurine it's a lot thicker height-wise. I liked the look of it being thinner, and thought it lined up better with the barrel that way when I imagined the charges being loaded in). I still have quite a bit to do. I'm also going to attempt sculpting for the first time ever on this, so I'm pretty excited for that. I already did a quick test on the pad there, and made it look more like leather. I need to learn the sculpting program more before I really jump into it though.

and a small update on my Clement Sauve tribute
Cool! I'm getting quite the Kratos vibe of your Dark Prince, must be the pale skin, reds and the angry bald face.
Good work on the Clemente Sauve character! Although the bend on the distal phalange of his index finger is very unnatural. Looks like he broke his finger.
Try bending your finger like that, you're physically incapable of doing that.
Gingerookie: That Captain America looks great! I think you've captured the proportions and silhouette of the concept really well. I don't know if you're still working on it, but I think you could definitely use some sharper edges in the right areas to get a variety of edge quality. Everything has kind of a uniform softness at the moment and I think a sharply defined planes here and there will really finish this off nicely.
Started another face. Trying to start from different points of the face to see which is most comfortable with me. Also learning a bit about poly-modelling.
Lesson learnt: Don't start with a small plane since it will kick your ass in the future.
You have major issues with topologies around the mouth, did you look at reference? I haven't seen mouth topology modelled like that since that documentary I saw about the making of Toy Story 1, Buzz had topology like that. I was horrified
I guess I'll start posting a little more of my stuff, I've gotten into the habit in recent months of keeping it entirely to myself but I think I can break away from that a bit.

ps: would make a nice chess piece Shadownami
in this version the audio is not available.
(I am aware that there are still mistakes in the animation :-(
but I am somehow glad that it got finished in the given time shedule.
some screens of the clip
I am now trying to make a rigged goose.
(still have to figure out which rig solution would be the best and how to add feathers)

seems painful.
looks cool tho keep it up
and yeah.. no alphas and no masking. Just standart brush, thats all.. even almost no smoothing.
Keep it up man!

edit: Yes, I'm nitpicking, deal with it!
Would be neat with some asymmetry!
I thought Gorge lost weight or something. The face is there minus the hair!

Sorry for the huge image... its hard to get all of this guy in there
more close-ups and such can be found in the WIP Thread.
Very nice Robat, great hair
(note: not meant to be game spec)
Getting some wear happening

and @ beancube- lol, yea.. might be a little much. Unless of course your implementing some sort of nearsighted mechanic :poly121:
Here's a couple of things I've just started working on. I want to do portraits of all the creatures from the 30s horror films.
