Sup ervybody! Awesome stuffs from you guys, I feel humbled every time I check this thread. @almighty_gir: is that a darth revan sculpt? either way, it looks SICK. keep it up, mang. @mutatedjellyfish: the cute puppy wagon is rad. small crit on your website: The little arrow on the right (the one u click on to see more stuff, on the main page) wasn't super obvious to me... maybe emphasize it a bit more or something?
Anyways, I've just updated my portfolio site and demo reel, TOO, so if you cool people wouldn't mind terribly and take a few mins to check out my stuff and gimme some crits/feedback I would truly appreciate it. THX U GUYZ!
about 2h.. Claudio Sanchez of Coheed and Cambria.. a lil stylized I think.. not quite accurate.. fun times tho.. the hair was annoying, gonna try to find a different solution next time
Been working on this on and off for ages for a school project. Full time work has kept me too busy recently to finnish it quickly so I'm happy that the base mesh is done or close enough to. I just need to add some tweaks so I can try out normal mapping like you can see what I've done to the blade in the center with its engravings. Apologies for bad render I again dont have a lot of time to set up shadows and lighting when mostly only get about 5-7 hours 3D work a week now-a-days...
All advice and crtiques are all highly apprieciated!
@onelung - that samurai is badass! I think you should saturate the armor more though. @jocz - that is one sexy joker
thanks for the positive feedback on the pharaoh design!
woke up early today, felt productive, more design stuffs.
I looked around various printing sites (customink and a few others) but wasn't getting results I wanted, so if you guys have advice, please send a PM my way
love it, my only advice if I was being picky would be to give those ladies a neck with stitches in them. I gotta say tho I haven't watch any anime or manga since I was 15 but I remember a particular scene from a famous one in "Blade of the Immortal" *cody's book" a character in the book has similar features like yours.
Maybe ref it but then idk what direction you want to take this in but it looks sick!
Hi everybody! Got back from vacation and feel refreshed, finally sat down and finished this plant of mine. I have more screens in my sketch thread. Looking for some C&C, please and thank you :poly121:
PS: Soooo much good work in this thread, thanks Polycounters for the inspiration!
Illusion: totally awesome sculpting buddy really like the snake motif at the middle. If I had to make a crit I would say make the cuts on the feather bits that come off the sides of the shield more tooled looking. at the moment they are very organic and kinda clash with the rest of the shield, if they were paralell and of equal depth I think that section would fit in much better. awesome none-the-less
You are right. Thank you
I finished the sketch and now will do retopology and try to fix long feathers on wings and tail
It theoretically scales down to 240 pixels wide (the smallest I've tested though, is 320x480 on my phone). And it scales up to infinity, with a maximum of 1200px wide content. Whole site weighs under 400KB with 8 thumbnails, so it's a reasonably sized download too.
(IE 6 and 7 screw up though. Still have to get some decent degradation for those two. It runs fine on the latest IE/FF/Chrome/Safari/Opera.)
Edit: oh yeah, very important: It allows you to set focus to 9 different parts of the image, so when scaling down the most important part of the pic stays in view. Context-aware thumbnails, who'd've thunk?
Nice work on the website Snader. I don't know if I'd go all the way to make it fit on 240 wide devices but I love the idea of of the content aware thumbnails, did you code it yourself?
Something I've asked my self for selveral times now whenever I see a scimitar like weapon. How do you draw the sword out of its sheath. The form of the sheath wouldn't allow to just pull it out like a regular sword. I imagine the sheath to be left open on one side. But I don't know. Maybe someone can enlighten me.
itismario - It looks like your normals are flipped man, I think all of them are, or most. Just go into your normal maps and flip the green channel in the channel tab (ctrl + i)
xvampire - I really like her, I think she needs more curve though to make her sexier
amazing stuff guys, Im really annoyed as Zbrush just crashed on me during an extract and lost the timelapse anywho heres my Speedey for today, 1hr 30, loosely based on Wes Studi, well quite alot actually for the speed sculpts over at GA, themes cowboys and indians.
@rawkstar and slavezero: At the top of the seethe is an open section that allows the fabric to widen when you pull the sword out. I have it modeled on there, but you can't see it from the angle in the pictures (you can kinda see it in the close up shot if you look above the sword.
Very nice work, I'm guessing this is Unreal from default purple and grey shader. Great work. I want to see the columns in the corner go all the way to the support beams on the ceiling. It looks like they are just fake columns not supporting anything. The floor looks very tasty.

Aye I think It'd be best, yeah currently untextured assets, will be doing some basic unwrapping and wood texture passes on them. Alongside that I might move the door back to the wall or make a new one (on the left, because it looks like the door-frame is actually coming out too)
Nice colours Micro, needs a few more props, but that's personal pref.
First up concept is not mine! Done by Marcio Castro. I am trying to recreate this great concept >
Not to sure about the side profile?!
let me know what you think!
Looking at the concept art, I think the purple upper chest is actually an additional shell over the belly. By the way, do you have a link to the artist's page?

@Stinger,
what you are doing is great,
but i think crazyfool has triggered some "i have to do this under 2 hours" in a few people. which is fine! but,
crazyfool is experienced with his shapes and anatomy.
Therefor he knows what he is looking for.
But by trying to rush into these quickies with people still learning,
im afraid you will pick up less from these sculpts then if you were to gather references from all over and spend two hours on getting a single shape right.
You/otherpeople might even develope a missunderstanding of structures because you try and go fast, while going slow will show you all its secrets.
Quick sculpts are a great way to practice workflow, but i would say that step comes after getting good results. You can sculpt on a shape for a while and find out a lot about brushes and so on, and it is not bad to try a fast one here and there, but limit them, take a day instead of 2 hours.
There are always mixed ideas of learning from quickies or slow processes.
I prefer to stare at something and tweak it a thousand times to get it right,
cause i feel in the end you have a better understanding of it's structure then rushing it multiple times.
Looking at the video, i would say you work way too early in a high subd level.
Therefor you miss out on the important shapes. (you got the rough shapes and details but not the mid level)
Block out shapes in a low level first, it goes way faster and it will help you find the shapes you need. and btw, you work upsidedown alot.. damn

So you are doing the same concept as Jason? Hmmm....Good luck
The more the merrier!
Drawing some kind of zelda-inspired golem.

the empty space is for the UI. I had another tube in there and some control pannels but it busied up the space for the UI. its a ps3 theme.

Looks sick man, but how is the helmet staying on?

Firstly, I love the way this is coming out. Very cute.
Secondly, if someone told me they were "plugging away at their grunt sack" without that image reference - it would mean something else entirely!
