I do not like the image below this text. It is a material I have been working on, and for some reason I am unable to get it looking good. In my opinion, it looks too "old" like some of the tiles included in the Source engine.
I notice a lit area (at the bottom) on the shaded render exhibiting local tone look exactly like the diffuse. Not good, but how do you fix it? I am going for the cold "mental asylum" look, with a nice touch of age. This was worked in a little by creating an ugly looking material. Criticism and comments, please!

What's your specular map like? Maybe you should try dirying it up with some footprints and grunge brushes?
Also, take a look at this. Sometimes it's good to go back to the basics.
Seth - His torso seems a bit long / legs a bit short. I know its a made up beast man but his proportions aren't sitting quite right to me.

Reshaped my male base head into a female which I've been meaning to do for a while, one thing led to another.... kerrigan startcraft fan art! Such a cool character. Mega wip, haven't divided the face yet. Lots to do but really enjoying it.

First time creating a sci-fi environment (wip)... it's a bit of a mess, so I think I will plan it out next time. Might take it further if anyone has any ideas :icon3:

Massbot: thanks for the crit mister. The long torso/stumpy legs choice was intentional, but perhaps I didn't push that far enough hence it looks a bit odd? I will push him about a bit and see if I can make the choices more defined, and less half arsed. Love the kerrigan btw.

Oniram: love the gun but have to agree on the thumb ridge, I would kill it as surface detail altogether and maybe suggest the pattern in the diffuse?

It'll probably look a little better after it's got a proper coral-like material definition.

here's an update on it. made the ridge go a bit more flush with the grip.
