Hi guys, this is my first post here. Thought I'd show my latest work. I've just started learning Zbrush, so I've decided a good tast would be to model a character. The colours are currently off, so that I can sculpt easier. I'm currently in the blocking out stages (which is why some areas are exaggerated, such as the folds). A very early concept image is included, to show what i'm working towards. I'd love if I could get some constructive critique.
Followed this tutorial I found on here. http://pioroberson.com/tuts/tut_texturing_tricks.htm
Not really liking it but TBH the tut has been pissing me off all day, doesnt explain half the shit and Its translated from french so the names of stuff is off.
Anybody know of another tutorial for this type of method?
Not cool to rag on Pior's tute, if it doesn't help you, move on. He's trying to help after all. Poopinmymouth has some great tutes and they're in video
Great stuff!! Just check the peck as it connects to the bicep. I get your trying to make this demon crazy but I'm not sure how he'll lift his arms;)
gogogogogogo!

That's what I like about it... no reason that flesh can't stretch right? As long as there are enough poly's in the low-poly.

Cheers man! Actually, the stretchy business is not meant to be the pectoral muscles (those insert underneath the head of the bicep, not on top of it ) but I can understand why one would think that, it's way too fat to be skin!
But it's indeed a tad much, so consider it fixed! Thanks for the feedback man.
First finnished character model I've ever made, took me about 6 months to carry out the study of anatomy and so on to get things right enough. 11k tris, 1024x1024 Diffuse.
Loving that Donkey Kong painting, my new wallpaper
Here's my first SSS test, finally got an understanding of what the sss settings do in max. Also as i said in the speedsculpt thread, the head is based on a kickass sculpt that crazyfool did earlyer.
Here is something that i have been working at. hope to get some critiques in order to improve upon it since i will like this to be a portfolio piece. i was using two versions of the concept from Warhammer Online's Chaos Tower.
Looks like it'll be cool, but I'm a little confused with the design. The overall structure reads very turn of the century to early 20s. But the details of the signs just creams "Streamline" but the form of the bus doesn't say that.
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, the signs are kinda off. I've been a little stuck because I want the amusement park/carnival vibe to come across.
What angle will they be viewed from? If it's to be viewed from the top (Just basing that assumption on most tower defense games I've played) I think the difference might be hard to recognize...
Thanks! In game its pretty recognizable as an upgrade. I'll send out a screenshot soon. But you might be right, might need a little more to make it stand out better. (especially when you see LVL 3)
Giant image coming up, snow appears and water will freeze according to a temperaturemap (biomes sort of) and melts if stuff gets warm again, from objects or temperature.
My swamp thing I did for a cghub challenge. I found out about it way to late so its really rushed at best...blah what can you do.
pfffft. may be rushed but it looks mega dope sir.. if you keep going with it the major things I see that could be pushed are a separation of materials.. like you have a rubber tire in there that reads a little flat, there are some metals in there too.. and perhaps there are slimy areas for the algae and wet dead plant life.. I like the contrast between the character and the pushed back background.. I feel like the cool lights in the character could be pushed a tiny bit more.. but that's just my opinion.. perhaps some spek highlights to push that a bit.. all the edges in the character are feel the same.. perhaps soften some of them to push certain areas back and create some atmosphere.. sick paints dude.. sick paints
I've been working on this little guy for the past 6 and a half hours, so I figured I'd toss it up. Took it from concept to this state in that time... I think the texture could use some more spicing up, but I wanted to see what I could do when I limited myself to low poly and low resolution.
He's 1488 tris with a 128x128 texture file. I probably could've gotten away with a higher resolution texture at that amount of tris, but I think I want to do more to the texture anyways. He's all rigged up, too.
awesome eld! Is the layout being procedurally generated? I wanna try it
Thanks! Yeah it is procedural, but it's very simple atm. I want to have it generate more interesting stuff like tunnels and bigger areas of rock wall or lakes, now it's just perlin all around.
it's a ~90x70 or so view of a 256x256 map I generated, but maps can be any size!
I absolutely love all the works on this thread. Just amazing!!
Here is something that I am currently working on. I would love to hear your critique and comments about this image.

^ Here's my model so far, now doing UV-mapping for this lo-poly anime character. (I think I'd rather post this more on Mobile Model thread instead)

Nice work thus far, Bonebrew. I really liked the Abhorsen books.
This is turning out to be a very nice environment. I love the warm lighting, it gives it a very inviting feel.

This is WIN. I think you misspelled Nintendo on the hat though

Hey thanks! It is, since you're looking down on it, we didnt want it to be too busy, so we kept it simple.
Gonna stop spamming here and make a thread for the project soon. In the meantime here's the high poly for the LVL 3 Arrow Tower.
Rayph - f**king sick
Drakon - awesome! thanks
Orgoth02 - Thanks man, and yes I totally did
Skeptical Nate - Thank you, glad you like it
Kevlar Jens - Thanks man!
glad you all like it, I think I could paint donkey kong shit all day. Maybe I'll do more soon.

She's about... has about 3 more major silhouette pieces to be added.
Slowly seeping back into the whole gas mask soldier thing. I present Genero, the generic soldier.

Looking through my old HDD today, found this IED Mine prop from 2007!
Threw it in UDK.
My own little hobbyproject, a roguelike much like a singleplayer dwarf fortress, with a hint of minecraft.
