Learning Unity, feel like doing something where you play a cat... and generally just want to rig and animate a cat. So I'm making one. 519 tris.
Textures on the way :P
Skylebones, I knew that was inspired by The Dig as soon as I saw it. What an incredible game, my favourite adventure game without a doubt, it's so atmospheric! Nice work
christermime, Unless you're going for the clean look, there are always numerous fingerprints and smudges all over any arcade machine I've seen. Looking good
butt_sahib - Nice start man, looking good. Get some eyebrows on the go
Cool first keeper!
Great Nate, some really inspiring handpainted stuff on the boards recently
Continued with my kerrigan starcraft 2 fan art this evening, still really enjoying it. Started blending the hair into the head, may need to add a few more spikes, and blocking in the body stuffs. May make the face a little smaller/rounder as well. Still lots to go.
KrisCrash, love your cats, not too keen on the green pose, he's got teddybear back legs going on, but the rest are ace.
did more work on the armour and various pieces today, then I decided that I wanted to get some colouring in done just to see where he's heading.....looking forward to getting into the rusting on the metal parts muchly
I guess that its getting close to starting a thread time, which scares me a bit, but hey
seth.: yeah, it's because I am such a beginner at creating rigs, so it's all tied up to some IK I probably didn't do right, tl;dr if I pull his legs forward he bends his feet up. Also lots of mesh collapsing I tried to hide with the angles.
I'd say you should start a thread, but I suppose this one is more social :B man he is getting nasty
Greetings people, this is my first post on this site so hello everyone!
I'm working on a ship based on the HMS Victory to improve my modelling and texturing skills as I hope to get into the 3D industry most likely specializing in Video games but If that's not possible it's not the only thing out there for 3D art. Anyway I am having plenty of trouble getting the ship right as it's quite difficult to get the hull looking right... so I plan on making a smaller ship to learn "how" to make the HMS Victory although I am going to add some of my own ideas into the ship as I don't really like the colour of the real HMS Victory and other small things. Anyway instead of starting on the ship first, I modelled a musket and a ship cannon.
sltrOlsson, nice, I think a Beetle is something everyone has to model at least once in their life
This model is for a film I'm contributing to (www.stinaandthewolf.com), the idea is to model a wrecked/abandoned Beetle, so I will destroy and deform this model once it's done! the fun part!
This is the look I'll be aiming for:
Scott, that's looking sweet, I like the style of the roof rack lights.
Dan, that is beautiful and inspiring! how long does a piece like this take you? I need to improve my 2D, signing up to CA may be a good idea...

Thanks man! It took me 2 big cups of coffee, half a large pizza and about 7hrs last night. I can't speak highly enough of that place it's definitely a good idea, the weeklies are a nice way to practice.
Massbot,Maph,G2000- thanks fellahs the robo will get a low res version w/ proper mats etc no hard surface modeling as I am pretty terrible at it:/
Awesome, I've been checking it out, I may partake in the Environment of the Week from now on, it's about time I put some effort into my 2D
I've been checking out Feng Zhu, Henning Ludvigsen and ctrlPaint but are there any other resources you suggest I take a look at? I guess practise practise practise is the only way forward!
Maph - It's a brain fart thats been trying to get out for some time:)
Nice Dan!, I need to do some 2d push ups myself, perhaps Ill join you guys over there for some motivation.
Oops, had some leg armor/weapons hidden when I rendered:\ Left leg has bunker buster flamethrower, and right has a large set of blades. Moving onto the character next....meow
man this thread gets filled so quickly! thought i would post up some shots of a pistol i finally got to finishing. i was thinking of going back and doing a snow camo paint job version of it
Replies
Jaw lines up to the nose, which is part of the design i was given, but thanks for the crit
Hey your time lapses are great!, thanks for uploading them
love the music by the way :P
Proportions are not mine, i've only modelled armor.

Morte ?
Finished up the arrow tower, here's all three in order. Gonna start up a thread for the project soon.

nate & firstkeeper: beauuuuutiful
I'm trying to rig and paint this model but he is so distracting...
I am REALLY looking forward to getting into animation
I miscounted before, it's only at 404 triangles, don't know how I got that wrong.

@krisCrash Lovin those kitties. They remind me of fruit stripe gum. I love the eyes closed/open swap too.
Paul
Still working on this guy, currently making the meshes and placing them before I bring them into sculptris and finish them off for the highpoly.
Still got to make a blockout for his hair and working on a holster of some sort where he can attach a warhammer onto his back when its not in use.
playing with a model I made in max by importing it into sculptris. looks about a million times better than it did before.
Nate: Excellent model dude. AWesome range of values.
eyebrows coming up!

seth - it's looking badass
kosh - it looks good but the juxtaposition of realistic torso anatomy with anime-style face and stylised proportions gives it a strange look...
Sauron - that is truly beautiful
Progress on this Beetle is slow but steady, I've got some messed up topology at the back there... not really sure how I can fix it
lol. nice work :P
Not really sure what direction its going in, but im enjoying adding cool bits to it and seeing how I can push the vehicle.
