I liked the mages guild quest in Skyrim - I guess it felt short because it didn't have you visiting every town in the game and doing a garbage quest for the local mages guild - it's quality vs quantity.
@Rascals saying the guild questlines were too short, the main questline was quite short I agree, but there are tons of side jobs and quests from people all over the guilds. They aren't that involved but they're pretty similar to most of the early quests from the guilds in Oblivion.
Well you see what I felt the mages guild lacked was a proper school that teaches magic. Harry Potter? Maybe not as gay but the start was great, introducing you to a teacher, demonstrating a magic spell and then going on a field trip to a tomb.
Then it ended too fast. More lessons were needed, more tombs to explore, magic artifacts, a non-gay looking Arch mage armour, answers to the Eye of Magnus and the people who took it away.
I'm just one of those people who doesn't mind the crappy Oblivion like mage quests. I liked the idea of going to each school and earning the votes needed. Granted Skyrim only has one college but I just wish it was longer.
Oh and I wish there were more magic variations or heck a way to invent your own. Even the Dark Brotherhood mage said a spell he recently made caused a guy to explode and create a mess.
What I've always thought TES games have lacked is the fact that when you become arch-mage (or other guild boss), you dont get to delegate or sent youngsters out on missions, etc. Of course doing the missions yourself is more fun but maybe they could make students come and ask you stuff and you send them on off quests (that don't really exist in the game) but you get some reward for it. It would keep the story ticking over. I also hate the fact that once you are the boss, there isn't anymore missions to do. I don't think becoming the boss should be the end of that story thread.

The theives guild has a lot to do after becomming the boss, you can choose various missions to do, and I think once you've done 5 in a particular town you get a special one, you have to do that in every town to fully restore the theives guild or something?
I'm pretty sure you can keep doing missions for the dark brotherhood indefinitely, but they're just find and kill ones.
Also for the main questline depending what you pick you can go to an npc to get a word/dragon location, of which are are a shed-ton of.
What about those pink stones? I don't know if I could be bothered to look for them all. They even hid one in the Thalmor Embassy which you can't enter again if you complete the quest for it.
which you can't enter again if you complete the quest for it.
If you were completely cut off from it (I don't seem to remember not being able to enter again) but anywho, if you were, then I'd say it's fair game to bring up the console and select the gates/walls in your way, and type disable, which will make em go away. Then enable to bring em back.
And, if you got a 'requires a key to open' door, then simply 'unlock'

You're really worried about being mistaken for a gay mage, aren't you?
I hate those pink stones. They're pretty worthless, even all collected, and the worst part is, they don't stack nor can get deposited.
Around a 5 kg of my inventory is being wasted on these.
I was really excited after finding my first on in the Thalmor Embassy and found another 5 or so through my travels. Then I looked up what they do and all it does is give you a free perk that increases your chance of finding gems in chests. As it is I'm already finding way too many gems to sell/craft into jewelry so no thanks!
I wish you could sort by value per weight, its how I figure what to keep to sell or drop.
If you are on pc there is a mod out that does just this, gives your items a price per weight unit, and more. You can find these by doing a youtube skyrim mods search. If you are on a console like me then no.
Has anyone else installed any mods? I got the inventory one with shorting options, AO, and a full screen windowed option mod. I wish I could turn AO off on plants, it makings buildings and interior areas look better, kinda weird in some snowy areas though.
If Beth release a DLC, I hope it adds something in terms of the Rebellion storyline. For example, Stormcloaks get in charge? Do they lead a genocide of all elves, or make a push against everyone to go "OUT!", or can you kill the boss in a duel and becomes the less racist Rebellion and have to build an internation Skyrim unison?
What about the Imperials, are they organizing an underhanded coup against the Thalmor? Will they forgive the DB's as long as they used their cunning skills to help them in that regard, especially after all they did?
Furthermore, what happens if truly the Thalmor are waiting for the struggle in Skyrim to be the nail in the coffin so that both sides are too weak to lead a full force attack and repel the Thalmor when they attack?
TOO many BLOODY sodding QUESTIONS! If no one at Beth wises up and decides to bring in some coherent hints as to where is going what as an aftermath atleast, I will officially cut someones balls.
Ah man I think I found a bug. I finished the Thieves Guild a while back and did some other side quests for a while. Then I decided out of the blue that I'm bored of Nightingale armour and I fancy some Daedric armour so I go to the mages guild to buy some hearts and the guy never returns to his room.
I found him in the tavern in Winterhold and to my surprise the original Nightingale woman was in the basement and acted as if we were in Nocturnals lair.

So now I can't seem to buy hearts
There might be other places that sell them but I do know where you can get some.
Go to Dawnstar and do that Mythic Dawn guy's missions (the museum thing). You'll end up at Mehrunes Dagon's Shrine or w/e it's called, after finishing it there'll be 2 daedra outside it and 2 inside, and they respawn after a while too.
Yeah, Stormcloaks are racist jerks while the Imperial is very much the bondage pony for Thalmor.
I still can't figure out which side is the good side to any extent.
Im not totally sure but once I had picked a side it seemed like the game started to paint my opposition in a very bad light. so stormcloaks and ulric seem like real mean bastards if you play with empire and vise versa...is this the case or am I wrong?
I'm 60 hours in and experiencing this horrible lag issue that everyone is talking about with the ps3. Yesterday, I went from silky smooth to maybe 6 fps when fighting 2 dragons. After that it got even worse as I explored the countryside. I haven't even touched the main storyline yet, so I'm assuming more crazy stuff is gonna happen that will bring the framerate down. I hope there's a fix coming soon. My save file is already 8.2mb.
I hope that Bethesda releases a patch soon Guess I should of bought the PC version and saved me the headache. lol

It's possible, but I've only done the stormcloak side. It definitely seemed at the start to be the better choice, but then at the end it made me wonder if I had actually made the right choice or not. I might have said this before but initially I felt like the stormcloaks were kind of like the britains rebelling against the roman empire, but at the end it felt like I'd just voted BNP.
I noticed after I got out of the intro and on my way to whiterun I saw a stormcloakbeing escorted by two imperials, and I could choose to free him then fight the guards, it'd be interesting if thats different.

Nope, they painted both sides in shades of grey. If you've noticed, alot of the Nords that support the Empire are really rich corrupt ass-holes. From playing the game the Empire seems really quick to torture and or execute people.
I think it's bethesda's way of playing with moral ambiguity whilst still having a 'But thou must" style story. Still, I appreciate the ability to be a racist prick, or hang out with imperial muppets.
Finished all Guilds, got all Masks, got all Stones, Got all Shouts and their highest level, completed mainquest and Imperial/War quest and all Daedric Shrines.
Bunch of quests I CAN'T finish due to bugs, can't get remarried because of the marriage corpse bug, loads of weapons and armor don't seem to work and yeah it's kind of a lilttle mess despite being playable.
Also I have to wait 10 seconds before I can play again when I quicksave :P I mean really, that's kind of silly :P
Also no one in the game seems to notice I am pretty much GOD.
"Let me guess, someone took your sweetroll?"
The guard says, while standing next to the two Ancient Dragons I just killed with my FISTS.
Anyway, time to look for smaller quests and try and get rid of all the quest items in my inventory that I can't drop :P

Oh man you guys, I knew you wouldn't give up on the elderscrolls adventures franchise

GOD i wish i had this. I keep having to do the travel to all the cities across skyrim dance to empty my bags...
242 damage, impressive.
I'm surprised I haven't seen that joke before...
But, how in the hell does that do so much dmg?
BTW, Kanga thanks will do
I still can't figure out which side is the good side to any extent.
Same. I like that it's not really an easy choice, at least as far as GOOD GUYS and BAD GUYS goes.

I wonder if Steam Workshop stuff becomes part of PS3/360 Skyrim DLC if so..........

In other news it looks bad for Bethesda:
