Ziggy, Hron, Inpw, homes44 Thanks for kind words, guys, really appreciate this
Inpw Very nice ))) Keep going! Wish you finish in time
JacqueChoi, Nix Impressive work on metal parts of texture and really great job at all
Ziggy, HntrLuc very artistic! I love your characters, guys
Great job from everyone! I'm still impressed with how many awesome arts are here
Good luck to all, who finished and who is on the point of finishing )))
Really amazing works here !
JacqueChoi : You rocks man !
Here's a wip of the final scene. I'll paint the "lava lighting" of the pit in its diffuse.
If anyone is good in marmoset toolbag, please PM me, I really need some help on how to make a good lighting.
Don't really have time to talk now, pretty late, but I am definitely going to go back and comment on all the great work here, I feel polycount has this in the bag.
This guy has been a long time coming, initially made 4 previous characters until I settled on him. I also burnt myself out so I took a weeks break, thank god for the extension. If I had more time I would like to texture the head properly. This is also my first attempt at a hand painted texture, ever...
Is the wireframe and texture sheet necersary on the presentation image now when we have to do the "making-of" which should include the above?
I have seen post on the other forums where people only do a beauty shot and then leaves the wireframe and texture sheets in the "making of" sheets.
Hmm really? Maybe those people are breaking the rules and will be disqualified, heh, I don't think I wanna take the risk. If you wanna be sure maybe ask in the FAQ thread: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=78221
I think I'm pretty much done with the texture although C&C are appreciated. Posing, and a base are next along side final renders. I should easily be able to finish everything in time to submit it.
The things I've learned:
- Never hurry on the concept stage
- Avoid very dark surfaces as they can be troublesome to shade
- There's probaly more stuff
So much great stuff thats getting finished... I still have a ways to go... the deadline is tomorrow night right?
Anyone have any comments/crits? I am finding that hand painting gold is by far one of my greatest weaknesses.
yay! I've got my final sub finished, tho i'm not terribly satisfied with it. o well... i definitely learned a TON, and i guess i did all right for my very first online art competition. aaanyways, you guys all rock! best of luck to all you crunching to get your submissions finished
So I've started texturing and I have about 6 or maybe 7 more hours to do so. I'm trying to figure out the best color scheme and could really use some help. I'm continuing on with #2 until or if i get any suggestions. Back to work!!!
Nr. 2 does pop out the most, I'd say keep doing what you're doing. Well, good luck on this one, heh.
Awesome work toe everyone else! Here's my final entry, did a few last minute tweaks (he actually has a texture on the inside of his hand now).
I sure hope we're gonna be alright not putting textures or wires in the main presentation image... Fred said we wouldn't be disqualified, but will it affect the judging process at all? Well, too late now I guess.
I tried
Just couldn't make it.... again.
Oh well, will finish for another portfolio piece
I don't think you guys need my help anyway. Theres some awesome entries in here *cough*.. HntrLuc....*cough*. That fiery mane is so awesome. I feel that polycount has dominated the warm up. Hopefully Dominance War will live on and the main competition will still happen (crosses fingers)
really slick work guys. I submitted mine all ready after I noticed some lighting errors under his chin. Kind of sad about that but no big deal. All in the name of fun eh?
latest texture and integrated more fx + star planes.
multiphasic harmonic resonance is attained! ectovoron is prepared for battle.
really impressive combatants everyone , is great start to the EPIC WAR!
Pang : she looks awesome , the bone/chitin armor came out nice and im liking her ninjascarf look without the mask from the concept. and a kick ass weapon
eazy : came out great ! was cool to see this texture progress , final style is solid. this is another that i think would be rad to see animated , with the blades spinning around them flying through the air.
Bogdanbl4 : nicely done , the details of the texture are awesome to observe the folds and highlights , thanks for showing full res!
seven : this guys is rad! , definiteley i think one of the most fitting of the greentooth army.
Alemja : creative! there are a lot of neat details to this character , really digg the backward arm blades and leg armor design . this would be a cool one to see animated pulling out the numerous blades like Yoshitora from Samurai Shodown.
HntrLuc : omg so much style so damn cool , the hair and cape are amazing. materials and color scheme are also top notch atmosphere, imaginging the desert planet and giant sand worm battles.
awesome stuff everyone! i've been super busy these last couple weeks so i didn't get to throw in all the extra details and presentation polish i'd hoped for but! here's my final submission.
p.s. bogdan, HntrLuc, choi, seven, and more... love your submissions. great stuff!
Great work everyone. SO much win in here.
Does anyone know how the voting-Process will be organized? I thought there will be a community voting to find out some finalists that later will be judged by a jury. But maybe I'm mistaken.

Nix your entry turned out great!! You too Jacque!
Best of luck!

Holy hell Jacque, how do you fit all that in a 1024 texture, lol
Indeed we do. ;p And thanks! I hope you can finish yours, it's looking sexy.

Here's my final:
Nix yours turned out fantastic!! The Metal is killer!
Levus that's just awesome!
Anyways, I read on the GA board that you DON'T need to include the Texture and Wireframe on the final image. You can include it in the WIP images.
"People who do not include the texture and wireframe, they will not be disqualified".

Anyways here's what I'm submitting:
Ugh, what a ridiculous mess this has turned into. Different forums get different info. Wish someone had mentioned that before. Oh well.
kirian, now that turned out really nice. Just superb texturing.
Here's the submitted final of mine. Only made some small changes since my last post.
@Ishii, Nix: Strong entries really solid work.
This is my final, was alot of fun, should have probably spend some more time with the layout/text, have to keep that in mind for the main challenge.
Good luck everyone!
Finished myself, now I can sleep again... hur-rah
Cheers ppl

Anyway Feedback welcome.
