Been pretty loose with concepting this time, just some sketches ( I'll show some just for the heck of it ). Looking back I think I shoul've spent some more time on that step. Got a lot of refs though.
Anyway, design; technomage, rough dirty industrial style rebel chick with re-tailored futuristic SS-style clothing with dreads and stuff.
Not too happy about the design but it'll do. Left to tackle is a good solution for modelling the dreads and a final design for the "wand" which right now looks more like a hammer than a generator draining magical power from some integrated relic... a piece of bone perhaps?
That's actually pretty creepy.
I've had a vague sticky note saying "nazi girl" and another one saying "dreads girl on my desktop" for a few days, and then here's a picture with a combination of exactly what was in my head.
An actual suggestion is to maybe make the hat tilt down/forward slightly, make the bill slightly bigger, and really push the shadow on the texture, so her eyes aren't visible at all, like on the concept image.
Unfortunately the program I was going to bake my ambient occlusion and color maps from my hipoly sculpt (topogun) has been crashing every time I've attempted to do so.
This has been setting me back a ways so it's been back to polypainting on my lowpoly model in zbrush then trying to make it nicer in photoshop.
Here it is 100% Self lit;
The texture sheet is also going to include weapons and effects.
Topper, that model is coming along so beautifully. I finally got my shit together and sat down to let some ideas flow. Here's a concept sheet I really like so far.
There's two random ideas up in the corner just, but mainly I present to you the unnamed War General. A mustache wielding boxer. Why fight something at long range when you rip it apart with your hands?
I know I'm starting late, but by Zeus I will finish a model for this.
hey I know Its late, but I just finally got time to join up so Ill try to do as much as I can. I entering for the corruptor 3d chacracter. so far here's my rough. Im thinking of adjusting the proportions and making him look more masculine.
Love A LOT of these entries. looking pretty awesome.
Hi guys,
I am honored to pledge my allegiance to the glorious team of Polycount
This is going to be my first DW so I am a bit nervous (especially after seeing the quality of the work posted here) but anyway I think this will be a really good chance to improve my skills.
Right now I am at work but I will try to post some sketches when I go home.
I have two concepts in mind one for wargeneral and one for technomage and I really would like to have your opinions.
@JFletcher - WOW fantasric textures! @NeoDement - I think legs can by longer @IAmTopper - colors look better @achillesian - dont like hairs @lochness - nice model, only head look like from other character @Flow - nice start with textures @Levus - one of my favorites:) @Bogdanbl4 - love proportion, I wait for textures @r4ptur3 - this pink color is to strong, mayby try saturate it a bit.
A bit late with my entree so I'll have to keep the concepting to a minimum. The basic idea is a Voodoo Warrior type for the War General. His trophies are a part of his armor and weapons, like a Poison Shooting Dart Gun and some melee weapons.
@Suburbbum : Ya, the entire mesh is split down the center lol. I have clone symmetry on atm since I'm not done. Also I havn't finished unwrapping him so i can't merge his other side quite yet. =D
I'm a long way off, and way noob, but it's a start! :P Going for a Zulu warrior type Shadow character, mixing in some ethnic stuff and tribal Polycount-green tattoos. Mainly using Zulu warrior photographs and Diablo 3 witch doctor images as inspiration.
Hey guys. I've come over to play in the 3D thread. I was doing a 2D piece but I've come up with an idea for my character and I feel that doing it in 3D will work better. Heres my concept for those who dont visit the 2D thread. I'm hoping to add a pet to this so polycount gonna be tight but I think I can do it. Will see how it goes.
Holy crap, so much mindboggling stuff since I last posted. I better hurry up.
JFletcher: it looks even better than I'd expected, nice werk
Anyways I think this is what I'm going with (though I'm still working on a back view). I've got two versions again, only difference being the gold/black color of the thingies on top. Oh and there's one without the cloth, that's just for reference.
If anyone has any crits go ahead, I don't mind if you nitpick. In fact that's what I need.
Congrats for everyone... You do beautyfull work!
First shot with textures, I must ad some scares, and changing few details, but coloristic I think is OK. Next step will be hairs. Texture 1024x1024.
I haven't gotten as much work done on this as I'd like to, but other things have come up and I've been distracted. I don't know if I'm actually going to be able to finish this in time; I have a lot of school stuff that needs taking care of and this has kind of been pushed to the back burner.
Love it Swizzle! Hope you'll be able to finish in time!
Minor update. Calling the rest of the model done for now, just gotta figure out those dreads.
Whataya think? Should I go with separade planes ( don't have many polies left, about 100-200 ) or perhaps make one massive chunk instead and let the texture do the talking?
Also thinking of perhaps just make a few massive big ones hanging on the back and make them more like a kind of accessory.
I've almost finished the model but I've a problem with my barbed wire. Does anyone have a better idea than the plane I've done for the moment (all along the left leg) ? I don't really know if it's going to be ok which such a thing.
I'd like to get nice wire passing through the rings.

JFletch: what app(s) are you doing your painting in?
After seeing that video earlier, i'd love to give that 3d-coat program a bash!
I'm buying 3dcoat edu edition tonight anyway.

Made a 3d sketch, will start with the modeling now. Probably going to re-look the weapons a bit.

Bit more with the texture...slowly trotting along.
Modeled and textured it... still not happy with what I got here.. -.- I know I'm lame...
Getting there...lol
I'm jumping in the battle a little late, but nevermind, here's my work. I'm going with the War General. Advice is always welcome, bye.

Little up on my texture !
Nix: i'm liking the gold accents you've got going on. GET MODELING!
Fletcher: Your textures make me wet myself with joy.

Now I'm gonna let this sit for a couple days and and rework it prolly.

Here's my corrupted girl ^^
